Taishan claypot rice, very traditional in many ways. Food mostly good but a miss or two, stick to the regular menu's claypot rice and you'll generally be quite happy.

Our go-to place for clay pot. Very good and very authentic.
Their steam chicken is also out of this world.
well seasoned rice with generous toppings and a crispy bottom. 1 pot was enough for two of us
Nostalgic and authentic! Really filled my claypot craving, and will return for some traditional canto herbal soups. They had plenty of soups on the menu that my mom made for me growing up. Pretty quiet on a Thursday night. Many Chinese elders were in to enjoy dinner, which is a great sign on the food quality.
We enjoyed the yellow eel and Chinese sausage pot and the sausage, duck, preserved meats, and fish fillet pot. One claypot was crispier than the other and had more rice crust. The restaurant gave us complimentary soups which I enjoyed a lot. I think there is either a secret menu or just on request to order sautéed veggie greens because some tables around us ordered different plates of greens but I didn't see it on the menu. Lots of traditional Chinese desserts on the menu which were tempting, but we were too stuffed to order any dessert. Good spot!

A quick stop over on a last-minute invite by a dear friend would take me to this literal oasis in the West Portal sid of San Francisco. We ate at the buffet, and the savory variety was scrumptious. Surprisingly, the place had all but 4 guests, but that gave Anita and me the whole place to ourselves. No waiting, and repeats are welcomed. #TheBrokerWithAHeart

The rice is a bit on the oily side, but it was done that way to have rice crisp. Eel was not as excited as I expected, but the other meats tasted good.

erm….
the bowls and plates were all paper… The clay pot rice dish tasted a little funky. It wasn’t bad, but something I could make at home (a little better lol). at least it wasn’t too expensive. The basic veggie dish was great tho!

They’re fast but I wish the crust was more full, good variety of clay pots. Also not all the meats were super good quality like the Chinese sausage could be better. Good that they serve with soup.

🐭When last time we visited the restaurant during weekends, there was a rat running on the tables. So I did not eat anything.
Very good experience at The Claypot House. The claypot rice with yellow eel and preserved meat packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The ingredients tasted fresh, and the aroma from the clay pot added a unique depth to every bite. The staff was friendly, and the service was fast. Definitely a must-visit if you’re craving authentic Chinese-Toisanese comfort food!

scam. We ordered a sea cucumber and abalone claypot rice (small), a soup and a veggie dish to go over the phone. We got home and found that there were only two tiny pieces of sea cucumber. The serving is supposed to serve three people. How do we divide up the sea cucumber :)? And then there were 4 canned abalone. We got more chicken and mushroom than anything else.
In addition, we found that they over charged us on every single item: the rice by $10, the soup by $6, and the veggie by $3 comparing to the price on the online menu. This place is the opposite of honesty and integrity.
I would not come back and I will be calling my credit card for dispute.

Delicious clay pot rice! The Chinese sausage is superb. Nice staff as well. Portion size is large, you’ll definitely be leaving with a takeout box.
