The Codmother Fish & Chips

Solid fish and chips spot at the fisherman's wharf. Ordered the Codmother's combo for $20 to share as a snack between 2 people. Fish was excellent, light, crispy batter. Oily of course. Shrimp were tasty, cooked perfectly. Fries were more like steak cut style. Asked for no added salt and they accommodated. Generous portions. We didn't even finish the fries. Price seemed reasonable. Food took 10-15 mins to make, which is a good sign since it's made to order. Went around 5 pm on a Sunday, no wait. Not busy at all. Decent amount of open outdoor shaded seating. There's a variety of condiments at each table. Parking was surprisingly not very difficult here

Clamchowder bowl and fish and chips were legit. Good price, good portion size. Website says no beer in batter and no pork in chowder, extra win for me.

So, so good!! Huge pieces of fish, amazing tartar sauce and the BEST lightly breaded shrimp! Nice outdoor seating area too. This is a “go out of your way to eat there” kind of place!

the fish & chips here hit the spot! if you’re looking for well battered and fried fish, this is the place to go. fries are starchy and big portions.

Calamari- delish with a great sauce
Fried Shrimp- good and not over cooked
Fried Fish- light batter and a good flavor
Chips (fries) - terrible... way too thick and no flavor. Even garlic fries were just ok but the fries alone are just bad so I am not sure anything could make them better.
This rating would have been considerably higher with a better fry since fish and chips just isn't the same without a good 'Chips'

Good fish and chips, and recommend upgrading to the garlic fries. Unfortunately the seating is all outdoors so come with weather appropriate clothes. Bathroom access is a block away, but there's a code and a map they offer.

Food was pretty good, service was great. Atmosphere was pretty cool too. Some foods were overseasoned whilst some were underseasoned (not too bad, it’s not that easy to notice) Eating them together brought together some sort of balance which definitely helped. You can skip the fried calamari but definitely try the shrimp and fish and chips. Note: their batters on the thicker side, so if thats your thing, you’ll love it. Chowder was pretty good too, but the bread was super thick. Once again, if that’s your thing, you’ll really like it! I’d recommend this place to anyone who wants a good, quick bite for a fair price.

Out of 10 people Every single one of us except for one 5 year old got food poisoning and very sick from clam chowder and fish and chips at this establishment on 11-29-2024!!

Famous truck in SF. I ordered the Jr. dish and it was good. I wasn't very hungry. Their tartar sauce is very good. The potatoes are real, not the ones from the bag. The fish was great.

With so many great reviews we decided to eat here, we wernt quite sure about the place when we got there, the food served through a window from what is fundamentally a caravan by friendly staff. It's a get your own utensils place. Seating is on picnic benches in a small lot with a selection of grubby sauce bottles that needed a good clean. The food well cooked, fries as you would expect , the fish was good however it was coated in a slightly hard and salty batter. $80 for a family of 4.
