The Cove is a home away from home for a lot of people. The servers are kind and committed to providing a nice experience for their customers. The food is a step above most other SF diners. There's a big range of options, from breakfast to lunch to dinner. I'm also partial to cobbling together sides--for example three scrambled eggs, chicken breast, and the Irish soda bread that comes with the soup. Delicious!

I have been enjoying this neighborhood institution for DECADES! It's always been a friendly, welcoming space with delicious diner food. I have eaten here with friends, family and by myself. I've enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner here. If you are a food snob, move along. But if you like good old fashioned American cuisine and generous portions, then this is a place you should definitely check out!

Went for lunch. Food was amazing and took an average amount of time to come out. Unfortunately we had to keep reminder our server about drinks we had ordered and we had to go up and ask for our bill around 20 minutes after finishing our meal. They were busy but you didn’t have to wait for a table. Our server was very kind and friendly outside of having to be asked or reminded of things. The menu has a verity of things from breakfast, to sandwiches, to pasta dishes. Even vegetarian options. If you’re not sure what you want to eat you will find it here.

Get the grits! I'm from the South and they definitely measure up.
Recently discovered this hidden gem - go here for a wonderful neighborhood diner atmosphere (they were featuring jazz from the 20's and 30's while I was there) with food that tastes home cooked and the kindest service from people who've been running the restaurant for 50+ years. Everything we ordered was so yummy, but I can't recommend the clam chowder enough. I just spent 2 years on the Monterey Peninsula, but the Cove's clam chowder was better than anything I had down there. Go here!
