Love getting coffee and sandwiches at Epicurian Hayes Valley. Jose is the best proprietor, knowledgable and friendly. He helps make the place sparkle. You can count on this store for good sandwiches, pastry and libations, with friendly staff playing good music.

Friendly, knowledgable staff and a great selection of spirits, mixers, and food items. A great number of locally sourced products too and it is certainly their emphasis.

I really love your store, but I wanted to share a concern. One of your employees was overheard complaining about the store, her job, and making coffee for customers. She expressed frustration about having to make coffee at 4 o’clock and even mentioned disliking customers and coworkers for it. She seemed quite upset, and I don’t think this reflects well on your business. I happened to see her at the store during my visit, and while she didn’t explicitly mention the store’s name, it was clear she was referring to yours.

Fraudulent company. Charged my card and never shipped my order. No response to any emails

Clean friendly establishment that packs a carefully curated selection of top quality products in small space. What a find thanks to a local resident’s recommendation! Excellent bread and pastries from Tartine and Craftsman & Wolves but without the wait at those places. Amazing coffee selection - Verve, Ritual, High Wire and more. Superb spirits and great cheese selection. Prices are reasonable especially considering it eliminates having to drive all over to the individual purveyors. Did not try the coffee (Equator) but devoured 2 excellent pastries in record time. Great location in sunny part of SF with many nice restaurants and shops reminiscent of Europe. Will go back for sure.

A nice upscale store with a great variety unique spices, cheeses, sauces, breads and wine. You can get good sandwiches at the deli. My truffle grilled cheese was great! Good service as well!!

Huge wine selection, some Italian and Spanish olive oils, dry pasta. Imported cheeses.Today I stopped by for coffee- it was sour and unpleasant.I assumed with all the imports they also imported the knowledge of making a good Italian coffee - nope. My bad

Temper expectations - this is a store for fancy one off needs like a finishing salt, special bottle of mezcal/whiskey/scotch, single can of craft beer (for $7/can)This is not a store for weekly grocery staples. There is a small selection of produce, though the veggies always look a little sad to me, always there for me when I need a lime, lemon, or fresh loaf of Tartine bread.

I have been buying gourmet (expensive!!!) cheese here now for years. Lately, on three separate occasions I have bought three different cheeses and every time they taste and smell strongly of peppermint. I went into the store with $25 worth of peppermint smelling and tasting cheese to inform them that something weird is going on. An employee told me that they spray peppermint oil around the store to make the store good. This is clearly what is seeping into the delicate cheeses as the store smells overwhelming of peppermint!! I wanted to tell the manager because I mostly just want to be able to buy cheese here again. I also brought in $25 worth of spoiled peppermint cheese and asked if I could have a credit for something else. He said no. I told him I’ve now wasted $60+ trying to get cheese here that all smells and tastes of peppermint. He told me I should start shopping somewhere else instead of considering not spraying peppermint oil all over the store and spoiling the expensive cheese for everyone else!! Shocking!!! If you also have gotten cheese here lately and it tastes like peppermint, please tell them!

Bought some tartine & Craftsman & Wolves pastries from here that were so soggy and old tasting that I felt this existential guilt for spending like 15%-25% more than the actual bakeries charge. The croissants and the Kouign-amann were wrapped in cellophane which I think was the death of these pastries freshness. It really sucked getting home to realize how gross these pastries were.
