Not for me. Got the chicken teriyaki. Thought it was made to order but everything is pre made. Texture and taste is similar to eating airplane food or microwaved food.

A hole in the wall type of place in FiDi. They only do takeout so I just stopped by after work to pick up some dinner. We got the nigiri set and mini chef's choice, which comes with a bowl of rice, miso soup and option to choose between edamame and seaweed. I think the cuts are with reasonable price in the area. Will try to see if they have chirashi bowl next time since I didn't see it this time. You can also order from their website, Doordash if you can't go there. Packaging was cute and really thoughtful for the price you pay.

I was so excited to try this place as the presentation is so cute and appealing. The quality of the fish is not bad for the price. However, halfway through my meal I found a worm in one of the wasabi containers! I flipped it over and found a second worm. Now I feel disgusted and am very worried I'm going to get food poisoning from this meal. I'm all for supporting small businesses, but this is really unacceptable and a food safety hazard.

I will not go there for second time, as mentioned before, ridiculously pricey for a such small portion and nothing really extraordinary about it. Most good reviews are old. I just hope that they can get a better management.

Good food and packaging. The lady who was at the front was very helpful. Really enjoyed the tiny sou sauce container hehe

Added this spot on my list to check out after seeing the colorful scarf packaging and yummy sashimi. A short walk from the Hilton, I ordered the mini chefs choice for $20. It came out to be $22 with tax. The fish is very fresh albeit pre-prepped. I got two pieces of walu, hamachi, salmon belly and one bluefin tuna. All pieces were super yummy! My favorite was the salmon (so so fatty) and walu! The order comes with a side of rice, seaweed and miso soup all of which was packed in a reusable branded tote! The only reason this didn't get a 5 star for me was how the soup wasn't completely closed and spilled out on the walk back to my hotel. It got quite messy. Otherwise, it was a great experience. Ideal spot for a quick lunch! I'm thinking about coming back tomorrow for the full chefs choice!

Great little window to pick up tasty donburi bowls at very reasonable prices!

Maybe it was nice several years ago. Pay attention to good reviews- they're from many years ago. I didn't... So I went there with high hopes. They had an okay pork fried rice. More like Chinese take out. Unagi rice was fishy, and this place is unworthy of 4+ stars they have.

lunch bowl was blah. Seemed like nice people and $10 was inexpensive but I won’t return. Pork served that low of a temperature makes me nervous. Very low content of food beyond fried rice in the bowl.

This is a lovely hole-in-the-wall in San Francisco that is only open during lunch hours for pre-order when I went.Truffle Salmon Set (A) - The salmon here is fresh, vibrant, high quality, and very succulent. There's fresh juicy salmon on top, torched truffle oil salmon below, topped with some ikura as well. The entire bento also comes with seaweed, miso soup, rice and is overall a really cute and well put together set. My only complaint here was the rice was borderline raw, but everything else was really well done.Fruit Tea (A) - When purchased with a bento set, this fresh fruit tea is only an additional $3! The tea is light and refreshing, high quality with a lot of fresh fruit flavor -- definitely a great addition to the meal on par with top fruit tea shops for half the price! The only negative to my experience was that my order was 10 minutes late from the scheduled pick up, but the quality of food is worth the wait.

They have finally reopened!!! I decided to get my favorite Unagi Donburi and a Chicken Teriyaki Donburi for my dinner. I can't believe they are just $8.99 each at the heart of fidi. I'll be back to try the Chashu Fried Rice next time.

I work in the financial district and have wanted to try this place forever - in the past I was hesitant because of the high prices but today I finally decided to give it a try! Unfortunately it was about the become the most expensive meal but also the worst meal I have had here.I got the miyazaki wagyu set, which was priced at $39 plus tax.The "wagyu" - I have had miyazaki wagyu before and the beef did NOT taste like wagyu. The outside was hard and the inside was chewy. The portion was nothing like the pictures and were mostly broken pieces. The pickled vegetables - 2 pieces of carrots, 2 sliced pickles, and 1 sliced mushroom. All of them were tiny. The rice - also tiny portions. Finished in maybe 6 bites.Lastly, the restaurant owner did not allow payment over credit card, saying their "systems have been down". Instead, he suggested payment over cash or to an individual Zelle account, which he included tax amount also. Will he be reporting this income? VERY suspicious.

This location appears to be at least temporarily closed as of 6/22/2021. It has not been open for quite awhile.

I chose Grubbies out of all the chirashi places in the area as it seemed the most promising, but it was slightly disappointing. I was unaware that the sushi was prepackaged and pre-refrigerated before ordering. I went with the regular omakase, which had a lot of cuts I was not a huge fan of, and the price of the cuts were quite steep as many others have shared. I wish I had gotten just two of the mini-omakase tbh. The salmon was actually pretty good, but honestly could not taste any of the truffle oil. My favorite slices were the seared salmon as it had a smoky taste to it that practically melted in my mouth, without any of the fishy-ness. The sushi rice was also slightly weak and was mediocre flavor wise.- Omakase & salmon - I ordered the omakase and salmon for family. Like many others, the omakase is quite steep for what they give you. If I'm being frank with you, the sushi rice was a slight disappointment and I think the whole shabang was just alright.Overall, everything was just alright. I've had better, but the presentation was beautiful in how they put together all the cuts in a small container, and the yuzu soda was one of the best I've tried as well!
