Mediocre food or as the cool kids call it, Mid. Not worth you’re money.

Worth a stop if you're in the area and need a late night bite to eat!Came in at around 10pm on a Tuesday night and it was pretty quiet with about 2 or 3 tables occupied. Couldn't see any staff at first so we sat ourselves down and ordered using the QR code, but someone came by shortly after to bring us water. Decor was on the kitschy side, with time-worn photos and paintings adorning the walls and fake grape bunches festooned across the ceiling rafters. The linguiça breakfast plate with scrambled eggs was filling. They were really nice about letting me substitute French toast for the home fries and toast so I really appreciated that. Grilled cheese sandwich came with tomatoes and onion and was just okay. The onion rings were excellent—perfectly crispy and a good ratio of batter to onion. Strawberry milkshake was decent and about what you'd expect from a diner. The spicy verde sauce they have in bottles on the tables was very tasty and paired really well with our savory items.Overall, I enjoyed Grubstake a lot. The low-key but courteous and quick service, Portuguese selections on the menu, and old greasy spoon vibes made for a memorable experience.Vegetarian options: Limited vegetarian options so depends on if you are okay with a grilled cheese sandwich, veggie burger, or breakfast foods such as pancakes and eggs. The main proteins in most dishes were meat and it didn't look like substitutions were readily available, so you would probably have to ask them to simply leave the meat out if you wanted any of those.

New owners, it's very different from when the Portuguese couple owned it. Food is still very good but thought it was overpriced and the server requested payment upon ordering, very odd for table service. Never encountered that before . Menu is fairly limited but food is very fresh . Used to sit at the counter, which was always full and lots of interaction between patrons. Not the same vibe now. But if you're looking for a tasty meal with fresh ingredients before heading back home late night then this is the place.

Was staying at Holiday Inn. Got overcharged by $18 but waiter said he would take it off next time we came in as we had been in twice prior. Came in on last day, different waiter and had no idea what we were talking about.

Ordered a great the A-1 burger for $18 and came with no fries or any other sides. What a joke because when you order the picture shows the plate with fries.

The patty was perfect. The service was top notch. Better than any soon to be hung over customer deserves.

We drove by this food network's triple D Diner on Pine street all the time and wanted to try it out. - Their hamburgers were definitely top notch and delicious. They were seasoned and grilled perfectly. - Don't forget to try their milkshake, my daughter gave the strawberry milkshake a 5+ stars for taste and creaminess. - The fries and onion rings were also a healthy portion. - The verde fire sauce is amazing to add to any of the sausage, sandwiches and burgers. Our server Gary was helpful and friendly, the ambiance and booth seating were festive and enjoyable. Overall, the food and ambiance were great for family and friends. We can't wait to come back to try other things on the menu. Another bonus is they open late, which is perfect when you are looking for a late night spot.

Great late night spot. We came around 12 am and it wasn't super busy, food came out fast and service was quick. I love their ordering system. You scan the QR code, order AND pay all in the same place so it makes it really efficient. Food was good. What you expect a diner food to be!

One of the best Philly Cheese Stake Sandwich in the Bay area. I also recommend the onion rings and french fries.

When it comes to this restaurant, the only thing that comes to mind is that old expression. All good things come to an end.

Great place. They serve breakfast but they don't open til 6pm. A couple vegetarian options. A few times we have gone and they don't have everything that's on the menu. Food is seasoned properly and very flavorful. My only issue is that they do not have hot chocolate. ): usually they're cool but there's one guy that works there that's rude and makes you pay beforehand and is weird about giving you an actual menu. Also the side of sour cream is entirely too small.
