Pizza and mussels were good

Fabulous!! We had the best dinner here last night. Fluffy salted focaccia, plump mussels with incredible pistou broth made with sorrel and carrot tops, asparagus with bacon and a perfectly cooked egg, and delicious al dente casarecce pasta with pork ragu and pizza from the wood oven with a drizzle of olive oil. Everything was cooked perfectly, the ingredients are so fresh and treated with love by the chefs. Chef Joseph even made us a personal skillet of semolina olive oil cake that came out perfectly crisp around the edges and dense inside!! They had run out for the day but threw one in the oven especially for us! You can tell how passionate and talented the team is. Would absolutely recommend for a date, or a big group as there's a few bigger tables in the back. Don't miss this as they might only be around through March although I hope they stay much longer!!! A true gem in North Beach.

The food was so good. Unfortunately the space is so big the back half was empty. The worst part was the lighting. Our table we under what felt like Stadium lighting. I dont remember the lighting being so bad when it was Rose Pistola. They need to dim the lights or turn some off so the ambiance is a good as the food!

We were looking for a fun restaurant in North Beach for our party of 4. We came across this pop up restaurant in the former Rose Pistola space and seemed like a good bet. Started with roasted mussels, roasted bitter greens (can't remember what it was called) and sausage pizza. Moved on to a pasta with pork ragu and pork chop. The chef prepared the majority of the meal in the wood fired pizza oven. We chose to dine family style. Every dish was prepared to perfection and we all were impressed. Full bar and decent wine list. Prices are reasonable especially considering the quality of the ingredients and skill in their preparation. This is a pop up that is only open for dinner Thursday Friday and Saturday. Highly recommended.

Am not sure what the end-game measurement for success is as a “pop-up,” but this place seems to want to make a fast buck in a tourist area and get out. We made the mistake of not having made reservations on Valentine's Day early, so we were stuck with what we could get. Ligurian food is a favorite of ours, as we've spent time in that part of Italy. The trofie pasta was about as close as they got. Waitstaff did not know if the salmon were wild or farmed. No Italian red wine by the glass in an “Italian” restaurant? The only options were a either a full bottle of Riunite Lambrusco (really...) or Bolla Valpolicello, both near the definition of “dregs” for Italian mass produced wines. The waitstaff were clearly hired for the short gig of this place's existence because they were so unbelievably disorganized that it was intrusive to diners. Moral of the story is that if you want to make an impression and use a pop-up as a trial balloon, the impression has to be a positive one. Needless to say, I would not recommend this place for a severe lack of business acumen. The food was just okay.

We had a wonderful meal in the heart of North Beach, on Columbus. The service was fantastic, and all the elements, from the excellent trio of bruschetta to the tart and cheesy radicchio Caesar to the delicious chicken and salmon, were well balanced and so savory. We will come back!

We're spoiled in San Francisco when it comes to Italian food whether it's a classic red sauce joint, thin crust pizzeria, or restaurant with handmade pasta. While some of the dishes at The Liguarian were good, nothing stood out and there were too many disappointments to warrant a return visit. The good: -Bruschetta platter (a nice platter with 4 bruschetta variations) -Focaccia and ricotta (the wood fire focaccia was a winner) -Wood fire roasted chicken (moist and delicious) -Friendly and attentive service and staff The not so good: -Wood fire roasted Pork chops (2 super thin chops, dry and overcooked) -Sausage pizza (tasty but soggy due to a non-crisped thin crust with too much sauce and cheese -Pasta ragu (too much liquid in the sauce and the pasta was not even cooked to al dente)

Wow. We just had an amazing dinner at The Ligurian, a thrice-weekly pop up from one of San Francisco's most prolific chefs, Joseph Manzare. The LIgurian is at the former Rose Pistola - big enougH for a group, small enough for a date. We LOVED the food. The ragu, Caesar salad, bone in New York, salmon, whole roast chicken, almond torte, pistachio gelato and more more mOre. The polenta was excellent. Such an amazing meaL. Make a reservation and go!!
