So unbelievably mid considering the hype. Very nice waiter. Drinks were ok, presentation had a lot of effort. But it sort of fell flat. Weird ambiance with some guests watching the looping YouTube cityscape videos reeking of cigarette and chatting not ordering anything. Butterflies on the wall are interesting for sure. Prices should have been a tad lower. Just an odd spot. But hey, it’s worth a visit when you’re in the area.

Lovely old school bar in a beautiful historic hotel. The ambiance could be improved as the lighting was a bit bright and there wasn’t any music when we first entered (they were very accommodating to turn some in when we asked), but the drinks are delicious and the service is friendly. It makes you feel like you’ve been transported back in time!

This place is great. Small lounge hotel bar. It feels like a different world dropped in the middle of SF. Everyone is incredibly nice. Come check it out and see how nice it is. I didn't know this was here, 7 years I lived near by.

Old, well-preserved and very nice hotel in San Francisco
I booked a Deluxe King Suite for 3 and the size was perfect. Just outside of the bedroom is a sitting room with a sofa bed, where my teenager slept. Between the bedroom and sitting room, there are no doors so keeping am eye on the kids would be a breeze. The hotel was built in the early 1900s without A/C, but the hotel staff made an effort in ensuring guests were comfortable by providing a portable A/C and multiple fans in the closet. Not to mention a ceiling fan in the bedroom. The king bed, although very comfortable, was incredibly tall and took some parkour for this 5'5“ frame to get on. Well, a clumsy rendition of parkour, if you will. However, the comfort of the bed made the effort well worth it. Breakfast was your typical continental breakfast with warm hard boiled eggs, yogurt, oatmeal, bagels, toast, etc. as well as waffle irons should you want to make your own waffles. Parking was not available, so we opted against renting a car and paying parking fees at a nearby garage. There is a fridge but no microwave, so lunch and dinner can be pricey when ordering in. Even with that mild inconvenience everything about the hotel was completely comfortable. The first night we heard footsteps above us until 2 am. We figured we had neighbors who might have been international travelers or late night owls. At that time, we had no idea that we were assigned to the room directly below the room suspected to be haunted. Normally I wouldn't believe the stories and would try to debunk any suspicion with rational explanations. However, the second night changed my mind. That night as we had settled into bed, the light above the bed turned on by itself. The remote control to the light was attached to wall across the room. None of us were anywhere near it. Needless to say I was ready to sleep with one eye open that night. However, that frightening encounter wasn't enough to keep us from getting a good night's sleep. Once the shock wore off, nothing else happened and we slept peacefully.

This is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in. Quirky, delightful and reasonably central. We stayed for three nights and returned after a trip around California for one night. The staff have been professional, friendly and super helpful. If you want something different from the usual corporate hotels this is for you .
I thoroughly enjoyed my three nights at this hotel. The furnishings and atmosphere are reminiscent of European hotels I’ve enjoyed. Our room was spacious and very clean. The complimentary breakfast was served in a lovely dining area. The lobby was charming and always had coffee and tea available. But the absolute best aspect of my visit was the friendly and helpful hotel staff, especially a young man named Manoj who manned the front desk. He went above and beyond to alert me that I’d dropped my watch in the hallway and kept it safe. And later, when I was afraid I’d lost something of value and called and asked him to check if I’d left it in the room, he made a special trip to my room and assured me it was still there.
Carl is amazing. Can talk about anything from Star Wars to NBA playoffs. Pours a great drink. A great spot if you’re looking for a quiet respite from Japantown. Best bartender in the bay!
Wonderful and attentive service, perfect drinks, and clean and cozy atmosphere. My friend told the bartender, Carl a general description of the drink she wanted and he gave us exactly what we wanted. Such a pleasant experience, will be back!
When I entered my room I felt I stepped back in time to the 1800's. Decor is very Victorian cozy. Bathroom has modern plumbing but it did have a clawfoot bathtub which kept the feel of time. The hotel I believe was one family's home in the early 1900's which turned into a hotel. I chose this hotel because it was couple blocks away from a class I took at the Japanese Cultural Center of Northern California. After class I explored Japantown which was a treat. Hotel Majestic is centrally located in heart of Japantown which is easy to travel by using public transportation. I didn't want to rent a car since I only went for 1 day and I knew parking would be hard in the city. I was pleasantly surprised they offer complimentary full breakfast which I was unaware. If my travels take me to San Francisco again I would stay at Hotel Majestic for its location, amenities, friendly personnel service and reasonable rates.
