So glad they moved to the east Bay. I love them in San Francisco and I love them more in Oakland. This is perhaps the best burger you will taste.
Creative, fun, mushroom toast was terrific. The lamb burger was delicious. Huge list of beers on tap. Cocktails in cans The portions are big!
Our new favorite neighborhood spot. Low-key vibe mixed with amazing quality all around, from the service to drinks to the food.
The beer list was fantastic and the server we had initially helped me choose one that I really loved. I ordered the ahi crusted nicoise and it was so delicious! I would go back again - and probably order the same thing!
We celebrated another couple's anniversary there, and it was fantastic. Their beer selection was wonderful, and so was their food. Thanks for making it a great evening for all of us!
Great food, good drinks, amazing service, nice atmosphere. We've been here 3 times, it's consistently solid.
Fantastic and BEAUTIFUL food made with fresh ingredients and gorgeously plated. Not pretentious at all - the services was genuinely warm and we especially loved the quiet outdoor patio. Also, we appreciate them being so dog friendly!
Love the beer selection! Food menu is small but has great options for a casual dinner out.
Love this place. Great for every occasion. Good good and staff are always helpful. So many beer, cider and wine options too! Love that I have great gluten-free options too.
First visit and will definitely go back. Service was attentive and personal. Food was delicious- great flavors and meat cooked as ordered and tender. Beer and wine only.

Our first time at Monks Kettle was very enjoyable! The food was excellent and the portions generous but not huge. The burger was outstanding and the fries hot and crispy. Others in our group tried the ahi Niçoise salad and the steak frites and everyone said they would order their choices again. It was delightful to have such great food in a very casual setting. We will go back!
As a long-time fan of Monk's Kettle (in SF), this location does not disappoint. Well-curated beer menu and super delicious food. Burger and fries are outstanding, and so is the moussaka (eggplant). Servers are v knowledgeable about food and beer. Romantic ambience, nicely appointed. A hearty thumbs up!
We ate out in the back. The menu has probably 18 or so draft beers. Normally I get one, but they happened to have Gulden Carolus in a bottle, and last time I was here I drank the St Bernardus tripel on draft. So I decided to have the Carolus today. The St Bernardus is a great beer, but Carolus is even better (a 99 vs a 97). Waiter was excellent and fixed my order when there was a problem. My wife was very content with the Monk's special burger. I would invite the bar to get more Belgian beers on draft. Here are a few terrific beers to consider: Gulden Carolus quad, Arend tripel (the 100 tripel - best tripel in the world), Kasteel tripel or quad (also 100), Ename, and Brigand beer. So glad this place opened up on College Ave.
I researched menu options on yelp, and I was immediately captivated by a picture of a stunning lamb shank, and knew I had to order it. I was not disappointed, it exceeded my expectations, and tasted even better than it looked. It was a feast, so I had to pass on the appetizers, which was a shame, so next time, I think I'll just dine on those, as they look incredible
Had lunch at the bar -- Smash burger was ok, not seasoned. Fries were terrible. Whatever Sysco bag they are using needs to GO! Service was meh. Beers are great.
