Very accommodating for celiacs/ gluten free! Plus great bartenders! Even really good gluten free bread
The Morris , let me try to capture all the good things that are going on here. So we gave this place a try on a Thursday evening and it's certainly surprising how busy this little place is. The place is rather narrow and the ceiling is rather low. Congratulations to the decorator for making the place feel inviting and warm. I love the open kitchen at the entrance, it gives you a good glance at the various dishes and your nostrils will be on high alert absorbing the various smells.
The staff is super attentive friendly and has a fantastic memory as they remember which guest ordered which wine and brought the correct bottle for refill without having to ask.
The food. we really enjoyed the appetizers. The pork cracklings were yummy and rather light great for sharing and best with a cocktail.
For me the best dish was the brocolini with squid. The combo of the charred, the lime juice ...out of this world.
For the main we tried 1/2 of the smoked duck. Now let me tell you it's good but.. it's so rich in smoked flavor that after a few bites I was completely with the flavors and we had a hard time finishing the serving. My recommendation 1/2 a duck for 4 would be the right serving size otherwise your taste buds will go on strike
Great experience overall definitely worth a follow up visit.
I came here with 3 of my co workers from Spokane, WA as a barbershop trip to a Giants game and see San Francisco. We made a reservation and this place absolutely killed it! We had Chris as our server and they were phenomenal! Chris was very knowledgeable of the food and drinks. The food from the starters to entrée were great 5+Stars!! This will be a place we will recommend to any of our customers who come to San Francisco
Just stellar!
Great Winery list and pros!
Great food. Amazing wine list. Good people. Enchanting movies in the bathrooms.
Excellent service, great food, cool vibe
Anyone that knows this restaurant knows that the smoked duck is exquisite!
Everything positive you've heard is true. Best inventive, satisfying by referencing tradition, duck presentation I've had in decades. What looked like small arancini ball was magical cassoullet morsel begging to be washed down with 🌹 champagne. A life affirming joy of a bistro. Bravo. Grand Cafe!!
The duck and cassoulet are amazing but the restroom view is something else

Our experience at the Morris was half great and half meh. The starters, charcuterie board, small bites and first course, were all fantastic. The main meals fell short. The pork belly was super dry, the duck tasted gamey and the skin was not crispy, and the tortellini pasta was not evenly distributed and I didn’t taste the truffle flavor.
The service was a little spotty; our waitress disappeared on us and another waiter kept asking us if we needed anything.
I’m not a sticker but the drinks came out very late and if you have to remind us three times you are short staffed at the bar just take it off the bill.
I’d like to go back to try dessert which we missed out on because we were all checked out.
Outstanding food, atmosphere and service. The bavette steak and pork belly entrees (crispy, juicy, savory) were really great, and the buckwheat donuts were fabulous and just right for the two of us. The wine selection is varied with good options for every dish. We’ll be back!
Overall, a welcoming place with delicious roasted duck. I would recommend.
Service - Friendly attentive staff.
Atmosphere - Relaxed, welcoming, and warm. Not many seats, so recommend making a reservation.
Food
- roasted duck: very tasty! Highly recommend. Duck was tender and had lovely smoky flavor.
- duck heart skewer: also very tasty. Sweet and chewy. It is a small portion ( two skewers ), so perhaps get one order per person.
- beer/wine: they have CM beer. Also their house red wine was smooth.
- french fries: Unfortunately quite overdone and salty. My only complaint at this place.
The food here is fabulous. The charcuterie with the duck liver mousse is to die for. Possibly the best I have tasted. The pasta w truffle was exquisite and the duck was wonderfully moist! A great meal with fine company! The service was outstanding [and prompt!] Highly recommended!!
Best duck in the city
