Frustratingly disappointing especially given the high rating here.
We had a reservation, but were seated at the table closest to the entrance, with patrons and wait staff constantly passing by almost hitting the chair.
Ahi tuna served on pieces of watermelon? Very underwhelming.
Crab ravioli, one of the priciest items on the menu was tasty, but undercooked (maybe this is their interpretation of al dente?).
To top it off - tea was from tea bags.
Would not recommend.

Very disappointing. I called ahead and was advised that there was foodservice til 10PM. I checked into the hotel (the desk agent also advised that there was full foodservice til 10PM) and headed to the Post Room at 9:45, but the service said “Oh, sorry, the kitchen closed about 15 minutes ago”.

As a foodie, the lamb was most unexpected! a summer rendition w a summer succotash hint of vinegar that breaks it down- PERFECTION more so w the ersol Pinot noir! I have been blown away by the flavor and tenderness and assortment of texture! Would order this over and over!

There was a wedding reception happening at the same time we were there. The noise level from the bar area was quite loud. So the host sat us in the “Library”. If you get a chance go to the 21st floor and the Starlite room.
Mismanaged restaurant with marginal food, terrible wine list and inexperienced wait staff. A disgrace to SF restaurants I was embarrassed that I took work out of town business guests here. Don't waste your money
Happily surprised. It was a lovely meal and setting. Service was great (for 20% automatic service charge, it better be). We were a party of four and was surprised about that service charge, plus a line for "additional tip". It would have been fair for the wait staff to point that out as it was very easy to miss that as already included. One nitpick - pls don't have your staff vacuum in the area while you have patrons eating, even if they are the only ones in the dining area. I'd still come back for a meal.
We enjoyed our dinner at this place. The food was just okay—nothing impressive—but it matched the price. The ambiance, however, was excellent, with live music and an intimate vibe. Lastly, the service was outstanding. Kudos to our waitress, Tessa, as we were celebrating a special date and she made sure we had a great time. She made us feel welcomed, celebrated, and cared for. I recommend this place.
This whole experience was a 10/10! My fiancé and I came here for our anniversary, and it was truly a date we'll never forget. As big time tea lovers, this was the most delicious experience we could've asked for! If you're lucky enough to get Tessa as your server, you're in for a real treat. She was super knowledgeable and attentive even though it was just her on the floor when we arrived. She still made us feel at home and took care of us! We will definitely be back the next time we're in town! ?
We had great service for a spontaneous brunch. We ordered the potatoes and they came out cold. The bacon was solid. The smoothie was good. The coffee was strong. The cocktail was decent enough. The space is great!

Enjoyed cocktails and late-night appetizers on a Thursday evening while staying at the hotel. The decor is absolutely beautiful- refined without being stuffy or uncomfortable. Service is outstanding- attentive without being intrusive. Baked eggplant dip with sourdough bread and mushroom flatbread were phenomenal. Cocktails were creative and presented beautifully. Highly recommend.

Saw the good reviews, so we decided to give it a go. Food was very meh. Had the lamb, ravioli, brussel sprouts, “heirloom” tomatoes and rolls. Had the table next to us lean over and tell us NOT to get the potatoes. Staff was nice but not particularly polished nor did they have any clue about wine selections. It's probably fine if you're traveling from out of town and want something other than room service. Bar had a nice vibe, but if you're going to the Beacon, you might as well grab a drink at The Starlight and take in the SF view...at least before it turns clubby. Can recommend the bar for the decor but not the restaurant.
This was our first experience at The Post Room but it will not be our last. It was exception, start to finish. The service was warm and attentive. The food was excellent. The lamb I had was fork -tender and my husband's lobster ravioli was delicious. Their cocktails are far from the ordinary. Lovely live piano music at just the right volume to allow for conversation. Cost of the evening was in line with other San Francisco venues of this class. Just a block from Union Square, easy to access. Beautiful old hotel that is also now on our list of venues to try.
We stopped in for drinks on a Tuesday mid afternoon to meet with some old work associates that we haven’t seen in a long time. The place wasn’t crowded, but the ambiance was elegant. After a few glasses of wine, an espresso, martini and a stiff glass of crown….we were happy. The only criticism I can give is the extra cost included on the check. They charge an extra $8.50 for a service charge or basically a tip without informing us ahead of time. There was only three of us. The three drinks came out to be $58 plus the included gratuity. I added another $10 tip for the server. Drinks are nice. The espresso Martini is probably the best I have ever had. Order that!!! Twice!! The special part is the drink includes Tito‘s so we didn’t even have to ask for the top shelf.

Wonderful birthday dinner spent here while staying at the hotel. It was truly delicious, we had the oysters, ahi, goat cheese app, fries, branzino and my son had pasta, the dinner rolls were fab too. Beautiful elegant vintage ambience with wonderful service as well.
