We travel from Stockton to come here to eat. The food only gets better with each visit, it's always a must every time we come to San Francisco. Food is incredible.... everything is
No doubt the food is great and you get a lot for what you pay. We also enjoyed the white housewine. That was very nice.
We felt the staff could be a little more open and welcoming.
Don't get this wrong... they were no bad vibes but we experienced more hospitality-like attitudes at other places.
BUT it is a classic place in Castro and it definately is worth a visit.
I use to LOVE coming here. We would enjoy the different plates and share. This time was horrible. Food wasn't tasty, in fact it was so bland. Barely any sausage in one meal... I can see why it is no longer as busy.
The Bolognese is maybe the best I've had in the city and their garlic bread a cheese lovers DREAM
I love this Castro restaurant. I've been frequenting this establishment for many decades. Love their Mama salad for sharing! 😋
Everytime I come this place is a 10/10. Good food, good service, and nice ambiance
I had an amazing meal. We had spaghetti&meatballs (me) and lasagne (wife). This was exactly how I remember Sunday dinner used to taste! The familiarity of the food took me back to the 90s and actually made me tear-up.
Ambiance and service were both incredible. We sat in a dark and cozy hallway type area. Very private; very personal. The servers were the utmost professional.
This is my new favorite Italian restaurant in San Francisco!!
Service wasn't the best but the food was delicious 😋. The young messed up my order and forgot to bring my cousin his drink twice.
Delicious Italian at a reasonable price!
The lasagna was so delicious and highly recommend this restaurant.

A tried and true favorite. Superior pizzas and tasty pasta dishes. The staff is unfailingly attentive and helpful.
Great place. The host and waitress were awesome. The food was very good. A little too much sauce on my pasta amatriciana, but that is my personal preference. This place has great a ambiance and great food.
The Sausage Factory, another Castro institution, no you don't come here for a fine dining experience but for your mom and pop home cooked Italian food experience. The setting is rustic, it could be anyone's grandparents home and it works. It's welcoming, the staff is friendly and chatty and the food, did I say it's comfort Italian food. So you will get a bit more cheese than your doctor ordered and you will have a few more slices of bread and yes the portions are rather large. But all that aside, you step inside on a cool night with your friends and enjoy a glass of wine and some good laughter and your plate is loaded up.... You will walk out a happy person.
And it won't break your wallet either.
Enjoy
Such a great place - for a city with a lot of Italian food, this place is at the top. I particularly like the penne alla vodka! Pizza is also really yummy. We got a bunch of things and split them.
Nice ambiance and friendly service. It was a great place to catch up with friends over dinner. I had penne alla vodka and tasted the veggie lasagna. Both were good but not amazing. Full disclosure I am Italian so may be a bit pickier about Italian food.
The portions were generous. The menu choices were old school Italian American and could benefit from a partial update that could keep some favorites and introduce some modern/true Italian recipes.
There were a few vegetarian options. We may have been unlucky but the wines we ordered by the glass were not great. Finally, they have managed to keep the prices reasonable. Overall, I would definitely go again.
