Toad Hall was a good spot — simple and straightforward, exactly what you’d expect. Drinks and service were solid and nothing to fuss over. The vibe was relaxed and easygoing, perfect for a low-key night out. Music kept the energy nice without being too much. Overall, a good place to stop by and enjoy the evening.

It used to be cool, I also used to be younger too. But I do remember when the bartenders used to smile. Last time I was there a few weeks ago I realized I did like the DJ's music but I don't know what they're trying to capitalize on when charging cover now even before 10:00 on the night that isn't even busy. The Castro and the cover charge has gotten out of control especially when not providing anything new or unique.

Fun gay bar that does largely top forty. Good for tourists because the dj set is shockingly similar every night you go. It has a good outside area that can be used to cool down after you are dancing. The patio can be a bit heavy in smoking

Disappointed and Frustrated

It’s hard to say when—or if—I’ll return to Toad Hall. The back patio was absolutely saturated with cigarette and weed smoke, despite clear signage prohibiting it. The bar not only failed to enforce its own rules, but actually enabled the behavior by providing ashtrays throughout the space.

As someone with asthma, I had to choose between spending time with my friends or protecting my health. Even though none of us smoke, we were surrounded by people who did, and we left with headaches and irritated lungs.

It’s genuinely disheartening that in 2025, being in a queer space still means tolerating harmful smoke. LGBTQ+ bars should be sanctuaries—not places where we have to compromise our health just to belong.

I normally don’t leave reviews, but I feel this one is necessary.

I paid $10 to get into this bar and was just enjoying myself — sober, dancing alone, not bothering anyone. About 20 minutes in, out of nowhere, one of the staff came up and asked me to leave. No explanation, no warning, nothing. Meanwhile, the place was packed and pretty rowdy, but for some reason I was the one singled out.

I didn’t argue — I just left. But it felt completely unfair and unprofessional. If there was a reason, they never told me. It honestly ruined my night.

Would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a respectful or welcoming environment. Save your money and go somewhere that treats paying customers with basic decency.

The bar itself is decent, but I’m giving one star due to repeated negative interactions with one of their DJs, DJ AKI. On two separate occasions, I attempted to request a song, specifically on their designated “request a song” day, and both times he was inexplicably rude and dismissive. I approached respectfully and was not intoxicated or disruptive. It’s unfortunate that someone representing the venue chooses to behave this way, and even more disappointing that management continues to employ him despite this conduct.

Yikes, never going there again. The tall, white bartender threatened to knock me out because we had to use the bathroom. He got mad I’m poor and wasn’t able to give him a tip this time so he started to kick my party of 4 out, which eventually led to the preceding sentences.

Just nasty, stank attitude with no room for understanding human circumstances like needing to use the restroom.

Staff is amazing, but I only drink beers because their drinks are not castro drinks if you understand what I'm saying.
