This place is definitely an experience you don't want to miss out on. The drinks are good and the food good as well but very very pricey for average tiki drinks and food. There were two of us and with two drinks each and dinner and an appetizer, the bill was 275.00. We were staying in the hotel so the cover charge was waived otherwise I believe it's 15.00 person.
Allowing people in the bar to come into the dining area and yell while people are having dinner is an issue. Don't sit at a table near the bar/dinning area! Management was nice, but this is an issue that should be addressed.
I had a reservation on 11/26 at 5:00 PM. Our server, Bash, was excellent — super attentive and kind. Unfortunately, the food was too salty, and the host, Becca, was unnecessarily rude, which really set the tone for the night. I appreciate good service, and Bash delivered, but the overall experience could've been much better.
Everyone was absolutely lovely and it was a unique and memorable experience. I just wish we hadn't been going to a show afterwards, because we would have had plenty of food for later. But it was a special experience and exactly what I was hoping to experience with my teenage kids.
Beautiful place with great ambiance & staff. Drinks were all sugar bombs instead of authentic Tiki. They need an overhaul of their cocktail recipes. Food was average.
Not worth it, waited more than an hour to be seated, even though we had a reservation. If you have a reservation, you still need to wait in a line for 'first-come come first serve' which does not make sense! The food was good, but it was a little burnt. Took 20 minutes for the drinks to come out. Over a poor experience.
Tonga room has unique Entertaining atmosphere. They gave us a nice table for my step daughters birthday. The food is not amazing and a little too salty. The server was wonderful . I'm really glad the Tongs room is still around for nostalgic reasons. But don't go for the good. Go for fun drinks and party atmosphere.
What a great, fun spot! History and ambience are always a draw but add in GREAT food & drinks plus free live entertainment = 5 stars! My first visit will certainly NOT be my last!!
We have been going to the Tonga Room for the past 46 years. We have seen many changes during that time. In 79-80 we lived in the Bay Area so we got there more often. Since 1980, our dining at Tonga has been associated with annual trips to San Francisco. Last year we decided it had changed enough and we would start passing on dining at the Tonga Room. Out of habit, I guess, we decided to give it one more try and we are glad we did. The menu has changed and we found some new food items that were excellent. The service was excellent as well. The only suggestion I would offer is to go back to the heated device for serving the Pupu Platter. Some of the warm food items cooled down before we could eat all of them making some items less desirable since they cooled down. The previous service item had a flame which helped to keep some of the items warm.
They charged us $100 for no show fee when I actually shown up and ordered $100 + worth drinks. I have a receipt. Now, I dealing with customer service reps after and after to deal with this issue. Ridiculous.

I enjoyed the ambience the food and the band. Our server was amazing and goes by the name Bash. The hostess was accommodating but could be a little more warm. Overall my experience was good.
Brought my GF here for her birthday. DEFINITELY make a reservation, otherwise you could be waiting awhile. Also, parking can be the hardest part, so either be prepared to circle the block for 30 minutes or to pay $70 for garage parking. Now on to the restaurant itself- The ambience is awesome. If you've seen the pictures, it's as cool as it looks, if not better. The music starts at 7 and the guys are a great band with great music. The food is exceptional, but not anything mind-blowing. we got the spicy basil, chicken, and the shrimp pad Thai... Both were good but I would've preferred a little more spice. As for the drinks, they really couldn't be beat. $23-$32 for a mixed drink is pretty ridiculous, but I guess that's also what you would expect from a place like this. That being said, I'm one who can hold my liquor very well and two drinks were enough for me to know it was time to cut myself off, so there's plenty of alcohol, which makes it a little more worth the price. The flavors are also amazing and the drinks are very well mixed. All that being said, it was a great experience, just slightly overpriced.
The restaurant is amazing. The drinks are really great & strong. The food is good too. The prices for food was on the high side for what you got. Again, food tasted amazing, but smaller portions and big price tag. I think you're paying for the fun atmosphere!
The food was overpriced for the quality. It tasted more like something pre-made and reheated rather than freshly prepared. Definitely not worth the cost.
A shout out to our wonderful waiter David. Great service. A good vibe all around. Thunder rain lightning & music. A great experience
