The food is good but the spicy fire wing was not the same as before. People are nice there.

SO yummy! We arrived before they opened on a Thursday and there was no line, but the restaurant filled quickly once we were seated. They have a service button at each table so you don’t need to flag down your server.
The beef mushroom stew was incredible and fed 4 of us perfectly. We also got the japchae and spicy chicken wings. The japchae was delicious and flavorful, but the chicken wings could have used more spice.
We are excited to try more dishes at Toyose!

This place was introduced to me by someone close and I have been here a couple of times now. Upon arrival, there are lines or a wait for the most part, and you can add yourself to their waiting list. The interior is basically like the garage of a house, which makes it pretty unique. The cuisine here is Korean, their menu consists of small bites, casseroles, barbecue dishes, soju and much more. You do have to be the age of twenty one or older to have any alcoholic beverages here and they do check ID. The staffs here are welcoming, well trained and understanding where I never encountered any issues during any of my visits. The food is fresh daily, made to order which is just the way I like it and I never mind the wait since I am a very patient person. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a laid back spot, if you are willing to try something new or if you just so happen to be in the area. I definitely will be back to tryout the other delicious options they have to offer.

Disappointed by poor service

Server: Young male waiter
I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant today.
While dining, I accidentally spilled a drink on the floor because the table was too small and overcrowded with items. A young male server walked by, handed us a cloth, and told us to clean it up ourselves — with a very unfriendly and impatient attitude.
As someone who has worked in restaurants for many years, I was shocked. In good hospitality, staff always take care of such situations kindly, without making the customer feel embarrassed or responsible.
This kind of customer service is unacceptable and unprofessional. I hope the management sees this and offers proper training to their staff. Guests deserve to be treated with respect and care.
The seafood pancake and tteokbokki were good!

Decoration of this place is lovely! And huge win for staying open late! I tried their Chicken Gizzard Stir Fry and the Calamari Stir Fried, it was tasty. I definitely want to come back and try some other dishes more typical dishes to compare to the other Korean places I have been to.

I think the yogurt soju has no soju
No vegetarian options. Their kimchi is made with fish which makes those inaccessible for vegetarians. Only thing edible is the japchae noodles :(
Restaurantji Recommends
Avoid the extremely condescending, sexist, and rude waiter - tall Asian male with middle split haircut - who will ruin your appetite and downplay the order that comes 30 minutes late but will still charge you for it. All the 1 star reviews are true. SKIP IT.

This review is directed to the specific server that was working tonight and gave my family and I a poor experience at Toyose.
Unfortunately, the server, a woman of East Asian descent whose name starts with an 'N', also has an accent, thought it would be wise to give us nothing but attitude. She basically slammed the food we ordered on the table. However, what really got us was when she handed us the check. She also slammed it down and the credit card went flying. After I called her out, she was mean mugging my family and I from the cashier stand.
Not sure what this server's problem was, but she was also the one who served us last time and was pretty frustrating to work with even then. My family and I thought our experience with Toyose would improve a second time around, but alas we were left disappointed hence my poor review.

I'm surprised I haven't reviewed Toyose as I've been going here for over ten years! There's been a lot of changes throughout the years, lots of memories, staff changes, lots of price increase, some of the dishes quality has degraded, but this continues to be a great night spot with friends. Plus a walk to Ocean Beach always clears up any buzz!
The staff from the earlier days were more fun and seemed to enjoy working there. The staff from recent years seems like they just want to get paid and be out. I feel them. Maybe management has changed or it's just different times.
My favorite dishes here are the Fried Chicken, corn cheese and spam stew, but I'll eat just about everything on their menu honestly.
All in all, of course I would come back. I always do.

Painfully expensive but the food was delicious. We got the chicken katsu, seafood pancakes, rice cakes and glass noodles.

Great Korean comfort food. The kimchi pancakes and wings were excellent. Stew was really good too and the spicy pork was amazing. Service was just okay, but the cozy vibe makes it worth it.
