Food? Fantastic.
Drinks? Gorgeous (no surprise)
But a bar of this caliber providing service and hospitality this inspiringly warm is truly something special. From the front door staff and beyond everyone was exceptional. Jessie, the bartender was a true highlight of a much too short San Fran trip. First on my list to revisit when I’m back

Stopped by here on a busy Sunday afternoon with four and a baby for brunch and we all had a great meal. Was able to get a table with no wait at all. The drinks we ordered were all tasty, especially the coffee with foam on top. The patty melt and egg/sausage sandwiches were amazing, really enjoyed the nice toasted bread both were on. We also really enjoyed the cornmeal pancakes topped with apples. I’m glad we stopped by for lunch here. Would love to come back soon.

Always an incredible time and awesome bartenders!
I ate at True Laurel a few months ago and though the food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was hip and intimate, the terrible service left a bad taste in my mouth that remains to this day. TL seems to have forgotten that hospitality is a core part of the restaurant experience. Here’s what happened:
-Reservations were at 6:30; we arrived at 6:37. We were greeted by the hostess not with a welcome statement but the mention that we were late.
—My companion is hard of hearing so we rotated the rectangular two-top so we could be closer to hear each other. This was a no-no and we’re told to move it back. Not particularly politely , but shoulder shrug. Nbd.
— We were asked if we wanted to open a tab next. When we said we were there for dinner not just drinks, they said it was their policy to take a credit card anyway. We asked why that was and they just said, without charm, “it’s our policy ever since COVID.” When we pressed further to know what was behind the decision, they just stared at us blankly. Oh well.
— we got over it quickly, because dish
after dish was absolutely delicious. It was kind of funny anyway. Like going to dinner at the fictional soup Nazi’s café from Seinfeld.
—The service after that was without charm or enthusiasm. Like they were doing us a favor to let us eat their food. They almost seemed angry about it. It was also slow.
—We bonded with the two-top next to us about the service. The woman said she had spent the whole evening trying to prevent her husband from making a scene he was so disgruntled about the service.
—After that the staff pretty much left us alone, which was a blessing.
— if there was ever the thought of expressing our dissatisfaction by leaving a substandard tip, that idea was dashed when the check came: a 20% service charge was automatically added to the bill.
Would I go back? Absolutely! Partly because the food and cocktails were so absolutely yummy, and partly to see if we got the same treatment the second time. I’m just curious. Did they have a bad night or is that the vibe to they give to straight, white middle-aged people every time? (Forgive me but that was my thought). I won’t know unless I go back and being a curious cat I need to get my satisfaction back. Or anybody who reads this can share their experience with me. I’m dying to know.

I don’t think it’s worth the hype. We walked in just wanted to grab a drink. Cocktails were pricy and the taste is just average. We were also attracted by the Lazy Bear title but I don’t think it stands up to lazy bear quality. Vibe was good, staff was very friendly

Food was below average and the service wasn’t great. They added a 20% mandatory tip for a party of two, which felt unnecessary. Wouldn’t go back.

Went to True Laurel for drinks before dinner and loved it! I asked the bartender to make me something new with ginger — and they absolutely killed it. The drink was fresh, creative, and perfectly balanced.
Such a chilled hangout spot — this has become my go-to place for drinks and 1-on-1 catch-ups. The vibe is relaxed, the interior design is beautiful, and the staff are super friendly. We walked in with no reservation (party of four) and still had an amazing experience. Never disappoints

Ordered two drinks - in the pines under the palms, and Bobby boo-urns. Both have quite similar flavor profiles, and the thing is, they are overly sweet. I feel like I’m just drinking flavored syrup. Couldn’t finish both of them.

The best experience I had in a long time. I was looking for something unique and 100% I found it. Combination of flavours is on another level.
The host was very welcoming.
Everybody from there took a good care of us.
High level of mixology, and a well deserved status of a good bar.
Thank you!

I was excited to try this spot. The overall atmosphere and vibes here are great. Also, kid friendly as we brought our baby and saw a few others with children. We had a few food items off the menu that were overall good, but very pricey for the amount you receive. The drinks are delicious, but are not strong which was quite disappointing for the amount of money you’re paying ($18-$19 per). I’m expecting a strong cocktail for that price. There are cute restaurants/bars in the area that are better imo.

Amazing cocktails and vibe. The attention to detail and the perfectly balanced cocktails keeps me coming back!
If you can, sit at the bar and chat up the bartenders, they are really fun!
