I can’t speak highly enough of the team and our evening at um.ma! Marianne helped me organize a surprise dinner for my fiancé - she was so responsive over email, always super thoughtful, kind, and helpful. When we arrived (after change the reservation several times), the team was so attentive and friendly. The food was fantastic, especially for a big group. Thank you so much for a perfect evening!

So glad to finally try Um.mas and definitely worth it! The sundubu-jjigae was everything you could want out of a soup on a cold day. It was incredibly fresh and well seasoned, like everything else we had. They had great portion sizes as well for the price. Staff were incredibly polite and the overall vibes of the restaurant were chill and such a relaxing, fun place to be. I'd definitely go back.

The food and atmosphere at Umma was good, but the service was highly unusual and disappointing.
We were seated about 30 mins before closing and made sure to ask if it was okay. The staff assured us it was fine, telling us to “order quick before kitchen closes. Halfway through our food, at 10 minutes past 10 pm, our waitress came over and told us, “We’re closed, can you please pack it up.”

I completely understand that it was past closing time and we were one of the last parties, but it felt unfair that they seated us, let us order before last call, and then essentially kicked us out halfway through our meal.

Did not order the BBQ but went with the waiter’s recommendations. Galbi and gochujang wings were both on the sweet and greasy side. Seafood pajeon was a disappointment - very little seafood and very greasy and dough-ey.

On a calm Tuesday in the city, I had decided on trying out this restaurant on Irving for some nice Korean food. Flavorwise, everything was a little underwhelming. The bone marrow corn cheese was extremely sweet, and was a little weird tasting. The La Galbi was decent, and the beef bone soup’s noodles were overcooked. Perhaps we ordered the wrong items, but these items should be good at any Korean restaurant. I would give it another try as the other tables seemed to really enjoy their food, but it definitely wouldn’t be my first choice for korean food in SF.

Side dishes are inadequate! Food is terrible! Don’t waste your time and money.

Service very good, food has gotten really bad. Banchan accompanying your entree was meager. Most Korean restaurants would serve at least an half dozen small dishes, often more.

Really great space. Also a good option if you have kids -- they have a really nice outside patio with heaters and picnic table style seating. The food was okay. A good option for casual Korean food eating if you're in the area, especially with kids but there are better Korean food options in the city.

Their korean chicken wings are to die for!!! KBBQ on the grills out back is always amazing too. Service can be a bit hit or miss sometimes but the food and atmosphere absolutely make up for it!

This restaurant used to be alright but it’s progressively gotten worse over the years. Expensive prices for small portions. The worst part is that they charge you extra to refill SIDE DISHES! What kind of Korea restaurant does that?

I have been to this place twice now and its been great both times! The seafood scallion pancakes, sundabu soup and kalbi are just amazing! The servers are pretty nice and accommodating. They also have vegetarian friendly options.

It’s aight. Tastes like fusion or Americanized. If you’re looking for something more authentic there are better places in the city.

Having been here dozens of times over the years, Um Ma is an acceptable spot for patio Korean food with good vibes, especially on a warm day.

Whether you are in Golden Gate Park or strolling through the sunset, it's conveniently located. Again, the vibes are good and the patio is a plus as it makes it dog friendly. Doesn't really feel like an authentic Korean place and it's a bit like they are trying too hard to be hip but maybe that's what sells. I recommend making reservations as it can get busy during prime time.

The service is ... usually sub par. Even on our best visit, it was still lacking. I want to be charitable and assume they are just severely understaffed. You'll often have a hard time getting a hold of them and even if you do, expect to remind them multiple times for requests. They've made it so you can now order on your phone but for any special requests, it's the same issue.

The food is pricey but a few of the dishes are actually worth it. Haven't visited in a while but apparently now they charge for extra banchan (side dishes)... what? I know times are tough but damn.

While the patio atmosphere is nice and the location is convenient for many, there are better Korean spots even in SF (and much, much better in the Bay in general).

Overall, the place is good but not great and while the atmosphere is lovely, things like the insufficient level of service and the inconsistent quality of the dishes makes it hard to make this a must visit for anyone.

Best Korean food in town! And at a decent price! Highly recommend their bibimbap, corn cheese, dak galbi and kimchee prawns. Most of the seating is at the back of the restaurant, each table sits 4 comfortably. Consider a reservation, especially during weekends. This place gets packed. They also have the BEST side dishes.
