Went to Villon for Sunday brunch and while it was good, it was strange that we were the only people in the restaurant. We were party of 7 and when I called to confirm if I could add an extra person I could not get a hold of anyone on the phone and open table showed that the time a lot was completely booked. We brought the extra person anyway, and since the restaurant was empty there was no problem seating us together. It was just weird that it said it was booked when it wasn't. They Kelly Werstler interiors we super cool and the vibe seemed like it should be a lively place to eat and drink but it felt sad that the place was dead. The food was good - we ordered an assortment of lunch and brunch items. We were disappointed there was no eggs Benedict on the menu which seemed like it would be a given item but the other egg dishes offered were fine. Service was great and attentive bc we were the only table they had to wait on. Anyway, I guess our overall experience was good, just a little lonely...

Villon before a performance up at the Orpheum has been a tradition for my closest friend for a very long time. The food is delicious the restaurant itself, beautiful and light normally the service is 5 star. A few weeks ago when we went for our usual 11 o'clock brunch before the matinee, we had a wonderful seat, superb food, and the lovely ambience however, the young woman taking care of us was having a tough time. We both understood it was her first week however it got so late. We had to enlist the hostess to get our order in. By then we were getting concerned about the time. Even our beverages, a Cafe Latte and orange juice took forever it seemed. Another delay with the food. Delicious as ever when it did arrive. Right then we asked for our bill. We were standing up ready to dart up to the theater. No way we are going to leave without paying! Another delay. finally, we paid, then hustled our 10 minute walk up to the Orpheum, mighty please with ourselves for arriving 30 minutes ahead of showtime. So excited to see the cast last performance of Moulin Rouge. Plenty of timeto get our drinks and use the ladies room. But something is wrong... theater staff stand out in the street street... That's never happened before. Bad news electricity is out in the city. No show today. Can we come back at 6:30 PM? Theater has been informed the power should be back on by then. That doesn't workfor us so home we go. The happy ending to this story is we got to see the show the next Sunday afternoon. And return to our favorite table at our favorite table at our absolute pre-theater restaurant, Villon. Naturally, the food, the service and the ambience were outstanding. That we go Sunday, February 22 to get another show. Love this place.

My Thanksgiving dinner left me feeling let down. With the exception of the mashed potatoes, every dish was cold, and some of them were poorly prepared. I had to continue eating since the meal was all I would eat that day. The price was too high for what we had to eat. Their desserts were cheap—cookies with sprinkles on them—no class. When I received the bill, I felt duped.

I have been trying to reserve a table here and can't get in touch with anyone working there. Groups above 6 people can't make an online reservation. I called the hotel, who told me to send an email, and after multiple follow ups never heard back.
It makes me think this is not a serious restaurant, or at least poorly run.

UPDATE: The owner said they would get in contact with me within 24 hours (see their response below), but of course they did not, because this place is not serious about customer service. Not sure if it was an automated response but, regardless, it shows the bad service.

They bring some nice twists to the average breakfast. The squash as a breakfast side dish was very nice. My wife loved their club sandwich. However, the eggs did come out a little lukewarm. We wish they had an Eggs Benedict on the menu, I'm sure they would do it well.

Super slow service....not typical They've been here before and all those slow. It was never as slow as today.

Service was great and they were busy. Initially hard to find to hotel and restaurant. Our food was really tasty, however my hamburger was a bit dry. The fries were hot and great!!. Will go there again. Saw the Club Sandwich was popular and my friend really liked hers.

Delicious and beautiful food. Very nice staff. Exuberant guests so very noisy on a Saturday night.

The server who first started our table, Teresa, was wonderful—attentive and kind. Unfortunately, she disappeared, and the gentleman who later served us was extremely rude and dismissive. When I asked a simple question about a menu item, his response was, “It's written in the menu.” We had just received our appetizers when he came back to take our lunch order. I mentioned we needed a little more time, and his response was shocking: he told us we would “have to wait for a long period” and even pointed to another large table, saying he wouldn't be back soon if we didn't order immediately. I couldn't believe the level of attitude and poor service. I usually love this restaurant and often choose it for work lunches and meetings, but this was a pretty important meeting, and the overall experience ended up being very disappointing.

We had a delightful lunch at Dillon before going to a show at the Orpheum. The food was imaginative and delicious and the entire staff could not have been more welcoming!

The service we've had here the last three times we've had brunch here has gone downhill. This is mostly due to our server who seems preoccupied and responds in one word answers, that are neither helpful nor polite. You're paying about $50/person for meal/beverage and I really expect that the service be gracious and welcoming. The food seems to be lacking too over the last few times. This last time there was bacon as part of the Proper Breakfast menu item and it was just pure grease. We think that they deep fried it and could not eat it. It is convenient as we were seeing a matinee at the Orpheum and the space is beautiful and soothing, but our server and meal was not up to par. Unfortunately we won't be coming back.

We thought this was a great spot to go before a show at the Orpheum. Nice servers, good food.

Came for Sunday brunch but the menu choices were tiny. Food was very basic. Definitely not worth the price. Wonderful staff made us feel good though.

Delicious food - lovely waiter - attentive staff - hotel ambience superb. I highly recommend Villon in The Proper Hotel.

My husband's food was overcooked, greasy and burned. The food pictures from their website are pretty but reality is a different story. Very poor service and limited flexibility in terms of everything. We'll NOT repeat the experience again!
