stopped by here around noon on the weekday & there were some people dining in & grabbing their take out orders. no line & about a 15 mins wait for the food. i really enjoyed their chicken katsu sandwich more than the chicken katsu curry i got, the sauces in the sandwich were so flavorful & the portion size was a lot! the curry would have tasted better w/ ketchup, so i wish they had ketchup, they only had katsu sauce. def recommend the chicken katsu sandwich if you get a chance to visit :) & all street parking for parking.

Really tasty curry. Spicy with a deep and rich luxurious texture. Good stuff. The burger steak was moist even upon delivery. The same can be said for the katsu still being crispy. The slider is the sleeper hit though, good lord. That little guy is beyond delicious. All in all tasty stuff.

Great authentic Japanese curry with their own twist. Love getting it for takeout and still tastes great microwaving it the next day. Comfort food indeed! I always stop by when I can.

A friend recommended the curry from this place, so I decided to check it out. It's set up like a fast food restaurant, where you order at the counter and then sit wherever you want. I got the Chicken Katsu Curry and chose Mild (No Spice). When asked if I was dining in, I said, "yes" and was disappointed to find that they didn't provide reusable utensils or a dish for my order. Fortunately, I brought my own utensils, so I used those instead to conserve resources (which also helps save the restaurant money in the long run). The curry had a good flavor without feeling heavy, and the katsu was fried without being overly oily or crispy. The portions weren't too large, so I didn't have any leftovers after splitting this with my spouse. After you finish eating, you are supposed to bus your own table, but the signs were confusing about what goes where. I literally saw someone struggle with figuring out what to do. You're supposed to dump out any leftover food and napkins you have into the bin at the far left and then put your box and utensils in the black bins to the right. If you served yourself water, pour out any leftover ice and liquid into the bucket and place the cup in the clear bin. Overall, the dish was decent, though not really worth it, especially in light of the large amount of plastic used. ECO NOTES (Dine-In) Dine-In Dishware: Beige plastic clamshell Napkins: Single-use disposable paper napkin Utensils: Black single-use plastic utensils Water cups: Reusable plastic cups (self-serve)

No fuss curry place with such a homey vibe inside! I got an enormous amount of curry in a huge takeout box, and I had so many different katsu options like chicken, pork, and oyster. They have bottles of tonkatsu sauce so you can endlessly drizzle on top of your katsu for that perfect sweet and sour bite. Solid curry place in sf especially if you're in the area.

My absolute favorite place! The service is amazing, they are so nice every time I go in! The food is ALWAYS so flavorful!! I order the Veggie Katsu Curry with cheese and extra Fukujin Pickles. Delicious!

I've never seen curry rice with so little rice. It's not filling at all. Not recommended. Won't come again.

The curry was good. I got medium spice, which wasn't very spicy. If you like spice, do hot at least.

Volcano is a small and very casual restaurant. You order your food at the counter, and they bring out the food in togo containers. We ordered the Burger Steak and the Chicken Curry. The Burger Steak resembles a meatloaf in taste and texture. The red sauce on top of it is ketchup. The chicken curry was tasty and flavorful. The food was fresh and hot. Also, the cashier was friendly and helpful.

I'm so glad to know that they are still around! I used to come here a lot and order their chicken katsu with eggplant and potato croquette and let me say that it always hit the spot! The curry always have wonderful flavors and it mixes well with everything. It always comes out fresh and is a joy eating it. Their service have always been great so no issues there. Definitely come here if you have not been yet!

OOOOH MAN OG San Francisco gem if I ever knew one. Growing up here, I've been coming here since my high school days and the price and quality has been very constant since then. Service is always as warm as their curry, I've never had a bad experience here and when I asked for adjustments, they were always very accommodating. The inside of the shop has plenty of tables for eating in and we've never really had to wait for a seat. They're known for their Japanese curries; simple yet packed with flavor and topped with goodies like the potato and carrots. Their katsu is to die for!! I've tried their beef tendon curry and the meat was cooked to perfection. The tendons were super soft, packed with flavor and there was a pretty large amount of meat. I got this for takeout a few times and they packed the curry separate from the rice, with the curry amount enough for two portions. This time I came, my friend and I both ordered their katsu curry and it was amazing as usual. Highly recommend!!!

Took my family for the first time. Small seating area. Not crowded in a Sunday lunch time. Customer service very helpful explains the menu. Ordered 3 chicken katsu sandwiches, spam katsu, and chicken katsu curry. All very good. Curry medium spicy was perfect for me. Portions good size. Parking is very hard in the area. Can’t wait to go back.

Seems like a great takeout spot. We got it to eat there but it came already in a takeout container which was convenient since the portions were big and i had leftovers. Added spinach to my curry. Chicken katsu was nice and crispy liked how there were lots of topping options and spice levels, seems like a small menu but very customizable. Not the greatest dine in experience, just a very casual spot, but like i said, might be better for takeout. Quick, easy, and affordable!
