I got charged more than was on the receipt. I took a photo of it because the bartender was rude to me and turns out he overcharged my card. Do not recommend the bar for that reason, but if you buy anything, make sure you take a picture of the receipt and make sure the charge is correct before you leave, because they won't help without you going in person back to the place.

We had a reservation for 20. Called to confirm. Got there early, explained to an employee of the reservation. He was not prepared. The server himself wasn't prepared either. After taking the first set of orders, we had been told that they needed to call in a chef. We were celebrating our wedding dinner. Very disappointed. The lady I did talk to, was super nice. As was the employee from next door who was helping.

Fun place for a casual, work, or romantic meal. The Mardi Gras upbeat vibe hits you as soon as you step in. Everyone loved their dish - Pineapple Fo' Yo Soul Bowl (Creole flavor - NOT Hawaiian or Asian, as one may assume), Fish and Gritz (sautéed shrimp atop a bed of grits WITH smacking gravy! Voted as the group's Favorite. Just look at my picture!), Da Catfish Plate (huge piece with the perfect crunch!), Dat Fuqin Seafood Roll (dripping with yummy juice and loaded with lobster, shrimp and crawfish, yet the ACME roll kept its delicate crunch), and Beignets (of course! Theirs was on the moist and dense side, not like the fluffy ones I'm used to, like in Disneyland - love theirs!). Each dish tasted specially different from other dishes of the name. Our palates were so pleased with our main entrees that a couple of people decided to order more food-to-go to share with their families, including the gumbo! The feedback fro Mtn wke families is they “Loved it!” Chef Eva's green sauce is delicious on everything. I kid you not. We didn't try their cocktails as we had to return to work. Their bar was loaded, though, and we do not doubt their drinks would be bomb just like their food. Definitely a hidden gem in the Financial District's Belden Place alley, which you will leave dancing and wanting to return!

The restaurant was closed for the holiday. So I ate somewhere else. You should not have let me make a reservation

I am really trying to giving the benefit of the doubt because running a restaurant and food service are not easy, but we had a really unpleasant experience. I am going to keep it short and just warn others that the service was bad, food was bland, overpriced, and we even found a bug in the mac & cheese.

Also, even though they take big party reservations, they didn’t join the tables for us to sit together and aren’t staffed well enough yet to serve big groups.

We had a birthday dinner here with 10 people. The experience was very positive; the food was good, the variety of the food was fun. The only problem was that some of the special touches promised for the birthday celebration did not come through. Specifically the cake was not what had been agreed to. Also, personalized menus for the event. I would recommend this venue for a celebration of this type. But beware that all might not be as promised.

We go to New Orleans every few years, largely for the food. This is the best Cajun food we've had outside of NOLA, and better than some we've had there.

I recently had a VERY disappointing experience at Voodoo Love. From the moment we walked in, the customer service was lacking. The staff was not warm or welcoming, and the atmosphere felt quite uncomfortable. I’m convinced someone is actually practicing voodoo there and honestly, with how dirty it is, they need to be shut down by the health department.

When we arrived, the restaurant was completely empty, and it took about 4 minutes for anyone to greet us. The worst part of our visit occurred midway through our meal when a gentleman entered with a huge pit bull. He was discussing a check with one of the employees. After they left, we noticed a swarm of gnats flying around. There were so many that we were too disgusted to finish our food. For a meal that cost over $100, we expected much better cleanliness and hospitality.

We tried the wing appetizer, gumbo, and seafood boil. All were gross. Additionally, the staff kept walking in and out of the restaurant, and we never saw them wash their hands.

I attended law school in Louisiana and recently moved to San Francisco, so I was very excited to try Voodoo Love. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing.

I reached out to the owner on Instagram via direct message to respectfully share my experience. She read my message, ignored it, and then blocked my account. This level of disregard for customer feedback is unacceptable and adds to the overall negative experience.

I hope this review helps others be aware of what to expect. I certainly expected much better from Voodoo Love.

I made a reservation and arrived for my reservation within the hours noted as open on the restaurant's website, and the restaurant was closed. No sign on the door. No contact with people with reservations. I was very disappointed because I wanted to support and was excited.
