It’s literally a rip off. We ordered a sea food platter that came with only a few items. It was charged expensively and it didnt taste that great. Service was terrible as well

Waiter barely served our table and was never around, and took forever. The food was lackluster and not tasty even in the slightest sense. I understand fine dining restaurants have gotten very expensive but this was just a rip off.

The ambience was good but the food terrible! The food menu was pretty summarized and the options not so great. We ordered a cauliflower starter that never showed up. It was hard to follow up as the waiter rarely checked in either. It didn't feel special despite being a fine dining restaurant and ridiculously expensive.

Restaurante para ir con tu pareja teniendo una muy bonita vista, la comida es buena pero no espectacular. Gran variedad de vinos y bebidas

We looked forward to visiting Waterbar because it had good reviews and an outstanding location and view. We were seated at 7, our reservation time. We placed an order for wine, which took 30+ minutes to arrive. The Little Gems salad was sold out, and the waiter said he would be back in a minute to see what else I might want. It was 30 minutes later when he arrived with the wine to ask what else I might want! The food came an hour after we sat down. The soup was good, the plancha shrimps were excellent. The fries were so so. My husband had short ribs which he said were just "okay". In short, a disappointing visit. It is beyond loud inside and seems overall somewhat frantic or frenetic with waitstaff dashing about. The view is spectacular though!

Excellent food, clearly popular with tech conference goers (so crowded, trendy and loud), service was mostly great (watch out on food allergies), beautiful setting, classic SF elevated dining experience. Oysters were really good and fresh; our table had the swordfish, blackened cod and risotto - all excellent. We brought our own wine which once they figured out what it was they offered to decant it - all and all a really nice meal. The one watch out is we had someone allergic to gluten and another to dairy which we pointed out multiple times and they still brought us a dish that had diary - had to ask again to have it removed - once pointed out they quickly fixed it and verified everything was okay - but we really should not have had to ask a second or third time and then ask for an item to be removed from the table.

Waterbar is a wonderful restaurant. It is incredibly beautiful with giant aquarium columns, filled with local rock fish, and lovely views of the bay bridge. The food is fantastic. I definitely recommend the Grilled Whole Dorade. The fish is excellently cooked and has a delectable sauce. The wait staff is so knowledgeable about all aspects of the restaurant and the food. It was a delight to be served.

While we have previously really enjoyed Waterbar and it continues to have great views (which is really it's driving factor) and decent food quality/price, the service we received during our most recent visit was rather abysmal and has potentially put us off of any future visits sadly.

Love this place. Spectacular setting. Great view. And it's just a special place for my wife and I. It gets a bit noisy, but small price to pay. I come here every time I visit sf

Lunch with two friends was outstanding. We shared the Bibb salad which was fresh and delicious. We all had the halibut which were very generous servings cooked beautifully — with broccolini. And we shared the pumpkin crème brûlée — I'm still savoring it. Waterbar is a first-rate restaurant. Friendly, very professional service make it a real treat.

Our server was fantastic, Stephan and everyone else supporting our waiter/server was fantastic! However the check-in experience with the hostess, woman can't remember her name, was frustrating. We requested a window table for a special occasion, and there were several tables open. She told us those tables were for upcoming reservations, who requested window seats, but we were also a reservation—and already there. After pushing back, she finally seated us at a window table. Moments later, I watched her seat other guests at the exact tables we had originally requested. What made it more frustrating was watching her seat guests who fit the typical “white male Financial District crowd” at the exact tables we had been asking for. It left us feeling like we weren't being given the same consideration. The server's great service helped, but the hostess interaction really set the wrong tone. The whole interaction felt unnecessary and left us wondering why we had to advocate for something so simple when we had a reservation and the tables were available. The service from our server was great, but the hostess experience definitely was awful. We love the place and will go again for the people that work very hard there. Hostess needs to be reevaluated and trained.
