Every time I stop by this place,I pick up 1 or 2 of their baked char siu bao. I usually finish them before I can walk 2 or 3 blocks away but hey they're meant to be enjoyed. It's not a typical char siu bao because this one has a sweet soft white crust on top that's almost reminiscent of a pineapple buns top. It costs $2 each and it's worth a try if you want to experience a variant on the char siu bao.
The ladies working there are friendly and efficient. It's a small shop so it's best as a grab and go place.

Quick and decent dim sum to go. The line is long, but the service is quick. The Shu Mei was really good. The steamed buns and youtio were really good too.

Visited in December 2024, looking for flaky fried taro dim sum.
When we inquired about the taro, we were told that they did have the dish. It was in the wrong form: steamed skin instead of fried with flaky edges
The steamed taro dumpling with ground meat is okay, not amazing. The right filling, but we wanted the fried ones.
We had just purchased multiple boxes of dim sum from 2 other shops so we didn't try anything else. Maybe next time.
Cash payment.

A little surprised by all the high reviews, but maybe it was just what I ordered. I just wanted a small breakfast so I had shrimp chive dumplings and a chicken bun. Reasonable prices ~$1.50+ per dumpling. The chicken bun was cold. Bread ratio was high to meat, which was bland. I got a huge cartilage chunk and had to spit it out. I prefer the shrimp chive dumplings at Wong Lee bakery. This one the shrimp wasn't whole (more minced), the chive flavor wasn't strong, and the dough was quite thick. I would go back here, but only for a hot rice meal. The eggplant looked incredible. I regret not ordering that. For buns and dumplings, there are better bakeries.

Most of the food I got was cold when it should have been hot, but was also super cheap, so I guess you get what you pay for 🤷🏻♂️.
To their credit, they did notice I don’t eat meat based on my selections and recommended some more vegetarian items.

Small place that serves food by weight (rice, noodles...etc). The dim sum were per unit. The food was delicious and cheap. The place had a few tables to eat, but it is old and dirty looking, But if you're looking for cheap food in SF's Chinatown, you'll find it here.

We stopped here to pick up dim sum on our way to the San Francisco Airport. It was really good even though we visited at the end of the day. For those that don't know, dim sum is a breakfast/ brunch meal of various dumplings and Chinese pastries, and it is best fresh. Because it was late in the day, the proprietor piled food onto us so as to get rid of it. It is tricky ordering food unless you speak Mandarin or Cantonese, but pointy talky works well enough to get you fed. There is no esthetic to speak of as it is simply a shop that makes and sells dumplings. They are not interested in you staying to eat or hanging out. All in all very good. I especially liked their chive dumplings, which had more pork than I am used to in the dish. Also, the shu mai was especially tasty. For an added flair go to the shop next door and buy some char shiu, or duck.
