This place is a gem! Ian, our server, was fantastic and helpful as it was out first visit and everything looked awesome. We sat at the kitchen bar and could see all the dishes coming out. Everything looked awesome and was prepared with care. It's not cheap but the portions are generous, so bring an appetite. Coffee and cappuccino were fantastic. Great beers, even though didn't start there! Will visit again when in town.

Might be one of the best brunch places I've been to in SF. I got the fried chicken sandwich since it seemed to be their most popular item, and the flavors were spot on. My friends got the morning bowl and the market st benedict, which were also amazing.

One thing Wooden Spoon could do better is managing wait times. Since we saw that there was a ~30 minute wait, we decided to walk walk around and explore the area until we were in the front of the line. When we saw that there were 0 parties ahead of us, we got back to the restaurant in anticipation that we would be seated soon. However, it took us over 20 minutes of additional waiting before we were seated. The food may have been worth the wait, but more accurate timing would have made the experience much smoother.

I really wanted to enjoy Wooden Spoon, but the meal fell short. The fruit was fresh and well done, and the coffee was fine, but that’s where the positives ended.

The hash was essentially a plate of plain potatoes and beef. Essentially weak stew without any of the substance or flavor, making the dish bland, and unbalanced. The pancakes were extremely dry. I didn’t finish either dish.

Service was also poor. This was during a very slow period with only about four other customers in the restaurant, yet attention was minimal and the pace was inexplicably sluggish.

I read some reviews about the about the waiters being lovely to customers and happy to be there and it’s true. The 3 ladies we met while lunching there were helpful, had a lovely smile everytime they reached any table and didn’t seem to be in a rush to attend other customers and that did it for us. Apart from the food being amazing, it’s the customer service that’ll bring us back very soon!
Tuna melt w arugula salad w a lovely mild dressing + the hot sauce for the sandwich were great. The big spoon brkfst for my partner was also great! Gracias! We shall be back :)

One of my favorite places to go in the city for breakfast and brunch. I love bringing out-of-towners to the spot because the food selection is amazing and you can always find something for everyone. They have amazing vegan options, vegetarian and gluten-free as well. The drinks are delicious. Coffee is fantastic, and the service is kind and attentive. I love the seating. It feels so cozy to sit by the window in the booth or at a table. The counter service is also really fun to interact with who’s behind the bar, and the high top chairs and tables also feel communal and friendly. I can’t recommend this place enough.

The place is small but nice ambience and bar seating is slightly cramped. Service was very quick. Food tasted good, but portion size is small. Was expensive for the size, but not more than any other brunch place in sf. Would go once, but will not revisit.

Got big spoon, potatoes were the best. Granola french toast was unique. Fresh orange juice was delicious and refreshing. Would not recommend the huevos. Portion sizes are decent. There was a waiting line but it moved quick. Service was quick too. Bar seating is more than table seating but bar seating is super cramped. Open kitchen and bar, good atmosphere.

Came in without a reservation mid day on a weekend and was able to get a spot at the bar without a wait. The bartender/waiter was incredibly friendly and helpful. In fact, all the staff were almost joyful and seemed happy to be there, which made this experience so pleasant. I ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup and my partner had the standard breakfast. We both got mimosas as well, which the bartender was quick to ask us if we wanted refills. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very relaxed and made for a nice afternoon. All of the eclectic wooden spoons that decorate the interior add to a their vibe and brand. We absolutely will be coming back. I saw quite a few things on the menu I’d like to try.

Been here two times- came at 10:30 on weekend without having to wait (pro tip is to come around this time because the wait can get crazy!)

The first time I came I got the little spoon and split the Swedish pancake with my friend- definitely a must try it was amazing. Very different from a regular pancake since it has a little more of a texture to it, kind of like a chewy, thicker crepe which I loved.

The second time i got the big spoon which comes with two pancakes, fruit, potatoes, bacon, eggs of ur choice, and slice of toast with some butter and jam. I loved the fluffy pancakes that paired rly well with the butter (and jam if u want) but I found the eggs and potatoes bland. Bacon also wasn’t my fav, I found it a little too crispy (?) and salty. For the price ($25) I feel like there were more things I didn’t like than what I liked which was kind of disappointing. Would recommend getting sometime else from their menu but this place is a great option for brunch!
