Word A Cafe is closed. In its place is Roadhouse Cafe who move up a block from their longtime location. Solid good fare. It maybe the last neighborhood hold out where the old ( & a few) newtimers sit around, drink coffee, laugh, and 'chew the fat' ~ a gem. Mama runs the show. (Closes early afternoon.)

I love the move that Road House made here... but it's nothing like the original space. Gonna miss it

My shoulders are still moving to the beat of the bachata music. We happily found ourselves here for coffee after running an errand in the neighborhood. Good value for coffee, a sandwich and apple cake. I really like the coffee. The food was delicious. Service was friendly. The atmosphere upbeat yet comfortable. We would go back in a heart beat if we lived closer. A go-to in the Bayview for sure.

The food and coffee were wonderful however it is the first place I have visited in San Francisco where the customer service was poor.

The guy at the register took 15 mins to take our order bc he kept asking the cook "where's the custom omelette" WHERES THE WATER UGH OMG" "Where's the OJ f**** lol he was pissed and frustrated. But it's okay he was kind to us. Cook pressing the iPad then didn't wash his hands when he started prepping food. but funny he said "WAIT let me get your freshly squeezed OJ" and then he opened a bottle of simply orange juice in front of us lol I thought that was funny. Anyway- the food was okay! I ordered a custom omelette, the empanadas+ the biscuit thing. Empanadas are a must! First time trying that. A+ for $15 one empanada Total came out to be $65~

Antone and I came here on a whim for some coffee. We were greeted with friendly service and a lively atmosphere. Once I realized they had empanadas, I was in heaven. Try the pulled pork or the beef! They are affordable and very flavorful. I can't wait to come back!

Amazing hidden gem, with the best empanadas that I've ever had. Chef Joel is a real treat with delicious food and great customer service. The jazzy vibe and incredible hospitality will draw you in!

We just had brunch today at Word Cafe in Bayview on 3rd street and I just had the most delicious Frittata I've ever had in my life! Kat and Carl are amazing and lovely and checkout the back patio. They do also have a parklet out front as well. Chef Joel, he'll be famous one day, mark my words!!

I love biscuits and breakfast foods, and the brunch food was incredible. I ordered the Bayview Biscuit Sliders, and they allowed for substituting crab for the protein! The eggs were fluffy and delightful, and the biscuits were perfect -- great flavor and texture. They have a lovely covered parklet to eat at. The people at Word A Cafe are very sweet and though, and there is plenty of street parking, which makes it all such an easy decision to come here! I'm looking forward to my next visit!

Oh this is a great place to get some homemade biscuits and they sell gluten-free biscuits at that
