Super nice spot. Went in for our anniversary the Day before Valentine's Day, the servers and staff all came out and greeted us, had great recommendations for our meal and all signed a card. The focaccia bread was a great starter and the skirt steak and fish were cooked perfectly.

Neighborhood gem! Right by SFJazz, quaint venue with an attractive bar. Great stop before events. Owner-chef came out to speak with us. Wonderful time with delicious food and drinks.

Very creative dishes. An attractive compact room with character. First-rate service. Only complaint is, as virtually everywhere these days, the music was too loud to permit easy conversation. They really don't need this to create ambiance or energy and should think seriously about turning it off altogether!

From the minute you walk in, you get the sense of a team that cares about the food, the experience and the customers. The music is nice and it was easy to hear. Very convenient for shows. We will be back!

Amazing staff and ambiance. Attention to our party of 15 in the private room was stellar. What a gem in Hayes Valley. We will return!!

Overall I was fairly disappointed by the restaurant. The service was slow and not particularly friendly. The appetizers were nice - we had the fattoush salad and cauliflower and the mains were pretty good (chilean sea bass and pasta dish) but nothing super special especially for the price. Restaurant was quite loud too.

We had the most wonderful pre-show dinner here before seeing the Nutcracker at the opera house. We were greeted at the door and seated quickly. We had the pleasure of sitting at the bar for our meal. The service was immaculate and the cocktails were so beautifully and expertly crafted. Our server and bartender/mixologist were both incredibly kind and willing to give suggestions and recommendations. The food was spectacular. The menu is so carefully thought out and the dishes are unique and inventive without being pretentious. The portions were perfect and we walked away satisfied and a little regretful we couldn't just post up and continue our night there! An amazing spot that you can't miss for a memorable meal with top-notch service.

Consistently the best and most interesting food in civic center area. And great, friendly service. Don't miss the xeviche

We enjoyed an excellent and interesting meal at this unusual fusion of a restaurant menu. The staff was very knowledgeable about their food and very attentive. The waiter made a point of asking about whether we were trying to make a show somewhere, and then timed his service so that we were able to do so with absolutely no stress. The room was wonderfully quiet, though it helped a lot that the place was relatively empty while we were there (early on a Thursday evening). All in all a good choice.

Our party of four had a wonderful pre-show dining experience at Xebec. The drinks were creative, the food was delicious, and the wait staff was friendly and efficient. Xebec will definitely be one of our go-to places in Hayes Valley.

Had an amazing dinner! The staff was friendly and very professional. The dining room had a clean and light feel to it. Jason was the bartender and was our server. He is very passionate about his craft and recommended the perfect drinks and even created some of his own. I asked Jason to pick our meals and everything was tasty. The waygu bruschetta small but flavorful. The prawn ravioli smoky in a ponzu sweet sauce. The sea bass was the star of the show for us. The linguini was good not something I would order again but wasn't bad. After dinner we got a tour of the private room and the event space downstairs. I would absolutely return not just for the food but for the A+ service.

This is a wonderful tasty and pretty addition to this performing arts neighborhood that is lacking fine dining options with the closure of both Monsieur Benjamin and the much missed Jardiniere. The food is thoughtfully prepared and delicious overall...mainly seafood and great vegetarian options too. Inventive dishes we loved that were prepared with a tasty twist include ceviche (but a miss served with their rice crackers), an outstanding baked cauliflower appetizer, well prepared octopus and a mixed seafood pasta where both the noodles and fish were cooked perfectly in a broth that didn't overpower the fish and seafood. There is work to be done on the timing and service aspects however, though everyone was very nice. With that said, NEVER should someone wait 30 minutes to be served their first cocktail!...and then they got it wrong. A straight up dry martini came dirty, and an espresso martini came as a mocktail. When I sent my martini back, it took another 15 minutes to get both of us what we ordered 45 minutes earlier. Improvement is required in this aspect! The wine options by the glass were great and fairly priced: a Flowers Chardonnay and Pisoni Pinot are rare and delicious offerings by the glass. This dinner was for my birthday, so we dined without a performance this time...but I suggest allowing an extra 30 minutes to your planned dining window if you're heading to a performance...at least for now. We will certainly return (and perhaps head to the bar before being seated) and we wish them great success!...but gotta improve at the bar!

The food at xebec is outstanding. I love whatever version of a bouillabaisse they're making, and my husband cannot resist the lamb burger with the spicy potatoes. The service is always efficient and friendly. This restaurant has something for everyone.

Excellent food and service. Look at the menu examples. Google described it as Mediterranean. I would classify it as eclectic fusion. At the restaurant they described it as Mediterranean-inspired dishes. Drinks were excellent too.
