I’ve been here since they opened, and I’ll admit I eat here once or twice a week. I even take friends and family here when they’re in town. I’ve eaten during lunch and dinner. Love getting the yakitori bento during lunch. My husband and I always try to eat here during dinner as well! The staff is always so friendly and the hostess with the beautiful silver lavender hair always greets me.
Food is always prompt and yummy. I always have to fight myself not to eat here so often lol.

NOT WORTH IT! I ate here with my wife Sunday night. It looked good for a sit down so we decided to give it a shot. Food is not the worst but nothing to rave about. We have had way better izakaia food. It's funny how they have their history posted as if it's authentic traditional Japanese food, but it's not. Someone most likely bought it and definitely Americanized it. They try too hard with their double sided chopsticks. They might as well give a double sided fork. I ordered their pineapple sake and they served it with no sake glass. Sake is ment to be drinked with a sake glass. Not like some drunk in a whole glass. They also don't know how to cook rice. That's pathetic for an Asian restaurant. Their rice is mushy. Which means too much water. If you're looking for good Japanese food or izakaia style food, this is not the place. Eat here if you're extremely desperate or just have low standards. People giving this high rating don't know good Japanese food, or probably never had a real good one. The worst thing about this place is they don't even validate. I wouldn't recommend this place at all.

Delicious Japanese skewers. A wide range of options from kinng mushroom to wagu beef(special). Each skewer average of $4~5.

Definitely you should go to this Yakitori place for lunch. Great service, affordable but high quality Yakitori. I love their Unagi(eel) and Yakitori set lunch. As a Japanese I feel their foods are pretty decent and what you can have in Japan.

Great yakitori and pork belly. Really attentive servers. Only ruined by the fact I had to endure the lunch with an absolute knob of a boss. Little pricey but the quality is good.

We have a lack of yakitori in San Francisco for some unknown reason, so I'd been meaning to try this place in person before I ever got it for takeout. I was very happy with the lunch menu especially at the price point. It is also very rare to see paitan, so I was happy to have it for the first time in years.
The service was absolutely what I would expect in Tokyo during lunch: fast, concise and attentive. Given how small the space is they definitely need to stay on top of tables lingering.
None of the skewers stood out to me; they can only cook on gas/electric due to city regulations so don't expect smokiness.

Restaurantji Recommends
Cute spot, with a nice ambiance and overall vibe to it. The small bites are great and delicious. It is a bit pricy for the amount of food you are getting compared to other spots in Japantown. So although it is not the best bang for your buck I would still suggest a try if you are in the area. The set menu goes for $30 and gives a nice variety to try. Always happy to have a no-brainer option to try a restaurant.

Great spot for yakitori - highly recommend the eel + salmon skewers too if you don't only want chicken.
A lot of the negative reviews seem to be about the SF mandate they charge - but most restaurants in SF charge that so I don't understand why people are surprised.
Overall highly recommend if you want yakitori!

The BBQ and Char are definitely there and taste delicious. For the price, I hope there’s more meat in a more uniform fashion🤣 Japan is the real deal in terms of taste and value. This shop is still very yummy but not at Japan level. Worth a visit with variety of skewer choices 👍

I've been to a lot of Japanese restaurants both across the USA and throughout Japan. This place is pretty great! I love the limited meat-centric menu and super quality at very reasonable prices. This restaurant is a super fun and cultural foodie experience for any meat lovers, BBQ lovers, etc. It is not a good place to take a vegan or vegetarian since that part of the menu is almost zero. Also, an enjoyable beer and sake selection.
