The absolute best! The carts for dim sum create the best experience and our friends from out of town loved it!
Great food. Will go back again for sure. Getting water and water refills was difficult. But food is so good it won't stop us from coming back
The dim sum was delicious. They have the best shanghai buns (soup dumplings) anywhere. They trundle making it a fun experience. We went 3 times during our 4 day trip to SF.
First visit on 19 Aug - The restaurant manager was rude and even though she had tables available, she made me wait for a while - A very unwelcome gesture... She thinks she is a high horse, whilst I thought she was low on EQ and truly foolish.. Food selection was limited and the items trollying out of the kitchen were the same every 30 minutes or so. Very disappointing, indeed. I only like the custard egg tarts and the fermented soya "phoenix claws", as well as their pot of pur-er tea. Unlikely to return to this restaurant. It took a short while to locate them as they are hidden in the alley, somewhat... Not too yummy, for my palate apparently 👎☹️
Great experience with hot and flavorful food!! Always a treat when visiting San Francisco!
We had a 2:30 reservation on Sunday and the restaurant closes at 3 pm. Not the best situation but the staff made sure we were able to order all our favorites. I would probably not go so late again but the food was delicious and the staff great
Good food, enjoyed the dim sum brunch and service was excellent. They accept walk-ins but if you don't want to wait, reserve a table in advance.
I don't think I've ever been disappointed at a Yank Sing. The steamed fish in sweet potatoes was incredible - and I don't even like sweet potatoes. Certainly one of the best places to introduce those not in the know to dim sum.
I had a reservation for 2 and there were no tables for 2 open except one next to the kitchen. There were about 6 four tops open. I said it would not work and still would not put us at an empty 4 top. I asked to be outside and they made a table for us at a 4 top. Never seen the waiter there and the receptionist was not available when we arrived. I have been coming your restaurant for years and this was the first time to have to deal with this.
This was a great place to take my boyfriend post half marathon and the food didn't disappoint. Everything we had tasted amazing and service was fast. If you're hungry and looking to eat with little wait this is the spot!

Superb dim sum! The very best for quality and consistency. I've dined here for over 15 years and always leave deeply satisfied. Some of my favorites are the sticky rice in lotus leaf, vegetable curry dumplings, BBQ pork bun and vegetables like the eggplant, green beans and Chinese broccoli are excellent. Standards like sui mai and har gow are exceptionally fresh and have great flavor and texture. I was sad to see the Peking duck was not served anymore at the Stevenson Place location but I prefer the more intimate setting at this location. This place is a winner through and through. If you are new to SF or visiting, put this on your MUST-DO list!
I've been a huge fan of Yank Sink for over a decade and always look forward to returning whenever I'm in the city. Unfortunately, this recent visit left me quite disappointed. The menu has been significantly reduced, leaving far fewer food choices than in the past, and the overall service felt inattentive and rushed. Despite having a reservation and noticing several open tables, we were only offered seating options by the front door (on a particularly cold day), near the kitchen, or beside an open patio door. It took multiple requests just to get water, and after placing a few initial orders, we were largely unattended for the rest of the meal. That said, the pork soup dumplings remain absolutely delicious—still a standout dish. I truly hope this was just an off day, as I've always held Yank Sink in high regard and would love to see it return to the level of excellence I've come to expect over the years.
It's not cheap to eat downtown SF that's kind of expected. Having rude waitresses pushing around the dim sum carts was totally unexpected. One of the women was exceptionally rude and almost refused to make a second pass at our table because she "had just gone by". She even whispered to the next server something in Cantonese. I was shocked but I did not want to make a scene in front of one of my older guests. There's not much selection at this place. They need more carts and nicer staff. It's not worth the extra money for the experience. The food is usually very good but not worth the attitude.
The service is not the same as it used to be. The waiters are very attentive, they immediately remove empty baskets on your table and refill hot water on your teapot as soon as they see it empty or the lid put slightly turned. Jason passed by several times just ignored it. I even pointed it out but no actions.
I hadn't been to Yank Sing in years and was so happy to be back - the food and experience was just as wonderful as I remembered
