The coffee crunch cake is light and airy with layers of crunchy honeycomb candy, whip cream frosting and delightful vanilla sponge. 😋 we arrived precisely at open on a Thursday morning. Got our cake slices right away! I totally get why people wait in line for this lovely cake! The market is a gem as well! Amazing find!

The coffee crunch cake was okay, but I enjoyed the chocolate roll much more, it was really tasty. It wasn’t too sweet, and the crème filling had a great flavor

The nicest lady, so helpful with instructions on how to best save the cake for the next day so it tastes the best :)

What can I say. Never had Coffee Crunch cake before. Friend recommended and that’s how we went. They are only open Wednesday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm. By the time we arrived at 11am only ones left were coffee crunch cake slices. No other rolls. Also, cash only. We bought two slices to try and omg! It was so good. Heard you have to pre order the whole cake. I would’ve done it if I knew how good it was. It’s so worth it. I’m definitely ordering the whole cake next time I’m in town.

My husband ordered the coffee crunch cake for our daughter’s birthday. He told me this cake was always sold out. Although I am not a fan of the crunchy bits (I don’t like anything sticking to my teeth), this cake did not disappoint. It’s delicious and not overly sweet. I just wish it had a stronger coffee flavor (Tiramisu is my favorite cake) and a more moist sponge.

Overall, the experience of eating this particular cake was elegant.

The only reason I visit is for their coffee crunch cake. Sometimes available by the slice, you have to order ahead for the cake. Family owned since 1974, I hope they keep going. Haven’t been there in awhile, but this one is in my top 5 favorite desserts, and I’ll drive over the Bay Bridge to get it.

Yasukochi’s been in the Super Mira Market for 50 years. They serve an homage to Blum’s “koffee krunch kake” (Blum’s was a soda fountain chain in the 50s).

Light layers of coffee-flavored spongey cake frosted with whipped cream and honeycomb-like coffee candy.

Typically sells out before 11 am.
