Tried during their "business hours" on four occasions and each time had closed early. I'll try again but who knows if it will be open...

I wish I could give them a great rating as they came highly recommended. Have been calling for over a week every day during supposed business hours for my friend’s FAVORITE ALL-TIME birthday cake. Not one call out of about 50 was answered. Very disappointing.

This sweet shop is inside a Japanese market. The owners and staff are friendly. Their signature coffee crunch cake hits the spot! The cake is soft, and the sweetness is just right — it is the kind of cake you can indulge in without feeling sick due to the sugar content.

Not much of a selection.
They sell slices of their delicious coffee crunch cake.
However, if you want a whole cake you need to order it.

I waited and was finally able to get to try the famous cake that everyone was talking about. I had to pre-order a day in advance. You cannot buy a cake same day. After paying $50 for an 8" round coffee cake, I have to say that I wasn't too impressed.
I would rate about 5/10.

The coffee crumbs on top are sweet with a slight coffee taste. The cake itself was kind of bland. I am not being critical with the owners I am sure they work hard but I just didn't find the cake worth the high price.

Give it a try yourself and see if you like it but to us it was a bit overrated.

After reading the reviews I decided to call in advance to reserve various flavors of their crunch cakes. Since their cake slices are so expensive I was really annoyed with the fact that they shorted me a slice of cake. Didn’t find out until I got home and opened the box. If you’re reserving anything in advance be sure to open the box to double check before paying. The cake is moist and fluffy but it doesn’t taste any different than all the other Asian bakeries in the Bay Area. Also the candy on top was extremely sweet. If you’re not a fan of overly sweet things I wouldn’t recommend it. Overall not sure what the rave is about. Tried it and probably will never order it again.

This is definitely a San Francisco treasure. A family-owned cake place that has been going strong for a while. Despite the loss of the woman owner, the family has kept it going. You do have to order ahead if you want a whole cake, or get there early. If you want slices. We bought four slices of the classic coffee crunch for a gift and they seem to be enjoyed pretty well them. I definitely want to go back and try the other flavors which I think are lemon and two others.

Coffee crunch cake ($6 per slide) was really good. The cream was cold like ice cream, might not travel well.

Didnt try, bc they ran out by 1:00 pmOn a wednesday. So call ahead or place an order to pick up, to double make sure you're able to get jt. Read others were able to get it but, think it was late morning rather than the afternoon.I was confused where it was but it's inside a grocery store.
