Yokai is a Japanese-style listening bar that impresses with its superb soundscape and lively, swanky jazz club vibes. The interior has an industrial/rustic feel, making it a good spot for group outings. While the entrance decor is appealing, the ambiance diminishes towards the back. The wait staff is nice, but the timing of dishes can lead to some items being cold. The food is somewhat pricey but consistently impressive, with highlights such as the duck skewers, crab salad, and steak. The duck skewers are super crispy and succulent, and the A5 wagyu is highly recommended. The crab salad is quite good but a little too saucy and salty, and the Miso cod is always a safe choice with delicious sauce that pairs well with rice. The mushrooms and king salmon skewer also received praise. Desserts like yuzu shaved ice are flavorful, although a bit too icy for some tastes. Yokai also offers a good selection of Japanese whiskey and craft cocktails that add to its lively atmosphere. Overall, it’s a great spot to enjoy good food and music, though the restaurant week menu may not be worth the cost compared to ordering à la carte.
