Came here with my boyfriend and it was a great chill date spot!
Good:
- The value of the family dinner is insane - we got the Hong Kong style and it came with like 5 different dishes
- I liked the eggroll, very crispy and came with a super tasty sauce
- The fried rice was really good
- We ended up with so much food we had another meal to bring home - and for less than $20 each!
- Service was incredibly fast and also they were very nice
Bad:
- It's a bit hectic inside since it gets busy!
Overall, it was such a good deal and the staff were really efficient and nice and would come back!
(Yongzi Ji was bought by new owners so my review is for the previous owners/management) This is my favorite restaurant in SF. The food is always delicious. The prices cannot be beat in the city. The owner is incredibly friendly and was always excited when greeting repeat customers. I am really going to miss this establishment. I want to know where they end up moving. *Former owners, if you see this review, please comment with your next location!* It was always incredibly comforting eating and chatting with the owner. Made the city feel much smaller. Wonderful community member.
They are trying some new items in their menu including smashed cucumber salad, beef dumplings, Xiao long bao, and juicy pork bao. All are really good, but the stand out stars are from their old menu: chicken porridge and spicy wonton soup!
Excellent price for REAL Cantonese cuisine, outside of the downtown and Sunset district chinatowns. Comparable to Hons Wun Tun House (although not quite as good).
Incredible stewed beef tendon & wantons! Wantons were fresh & plump, encased in a delicate wrapper. The soup tasted incredibly moreish & homey — no sign of msg (a rarity).
Family run & cooked with love. Well worth a try!
I think I was over charged, I didn't look at the menu. I asked for milk tea and they charge me $6. I didn't want to be petty to post this, but after walking out and seeing their menu for a thai tea is $3.95... that annoyed me...
Look at how small the cup is and also they dont specialize in milk tea. I just wanted something to drink... should of went to MCD across the street.
Quick service, quiet spot, hole in the wall. Worth a try!
Amazing HongKong Fusion.
Just wanted to put a warning out for customers— pay attention to what you are being charged for. The server lady brought out onion pancakes that we never ordered and initially offered as complimentary. The people who left before us were surprised as they were also offered the onion pancakes and just like us ended up paying for something they didn’t order. I let the lady know that if she continues to be dishonest in that matter she will lose business. It’s not paying for it that bothered, it’s that she is cheating her customers.
$19 for a overly spicy curry with beef and overly bitter milk tea -- none of these resembles the aforementioned from Hong Kong. I have gave them a couple tries and they stayed the same, which is unfortunate.
For anyone who tried to have curry from Hong Kong, they are not spicy by default. This right here is definitely hot (neither mild nor medium) at its minimum as a default. Perhaps if you enjoy spiciness from authentic Indian curry, then this spicy level will match your expectation. However, for Hong Kong style curry with beef, this is fla fail.
Milk tea was too bitter because they used the tea prepared from lemon tea (another popular drink from Hong Kong local restaurants). As a result, their milk tea tasted like Hong Kong (cold)lemon tea and replaced lemon with some forms of milk -- not good.
For $19, there are way better options. This place just isn't it even though the service has always been good and the atmosphere is just fine.

Like stepping back into Hong Kong for a traditional delicious and real meal.
Great place :)
Such yummy food!
Legit dumplings! Mom and pop shop. Looks humble and quaint. Shrimp dumpling noodles are the hit here. Get it with some brisket tendon and it's even better. Broth is flavorful and staff are nice. I wish they opened slightly earlier, but 11:30am is late because noodles are great for brunch.
October 2024:
Stopped by for lunch and ordered the wonton noodle soup with pork.
I thought the food was pretty good. Nice to have a Chinese restaurant in the area.
