I have been to this restaurant numerous times, and the food is amazing. Being from the Caribbean, it is hard to sometimes find authentic food, and this place hits the nail. It is also very affordable, and the servings are more than enough, which is a big plus.

Best Caribbean food in LA. LA doesn't have many Caribbean options, especially for the price.

My husband recently celebrated his birthday and ONLY wanted food from this place. It was pretty last minute, but Yonette was responsive to my catering request. It was Super Bowl Sunday , and she still made the accommodations for me! Food was fresh and delicious and our guests didn't stop talking about it. Thank you again! If your on the fence about it, try it! They never disappoint.

I didn’t get to take any pictures because I literally demolished my entire meal and I am the most content and satisfied I have ever felt.My husband and I have visited Jamaica and the food there was incredible, we saw this place and the food looked delicious on instagram, and it did not disappoint one bit!The portion size for our jerk chicken plate was what I call “family size” a super heaped plate with plenty of rice & peas, wilted veggies and 1/2 of the most authentically seasoned chicken. They say you can’t put a price on a mothers love but here they serve it by the plate for $17Sweet perfect plantains, Super aromatic the experience was delightful.I cannot wait to come back and try everything on the menu. They also have the best Jamaican patties in Los Angeles, quit sleeping on this place and go!

The only place in the 626 to get your jamaican stewed ox tail. Let me tell you, this is fall off the bone goodness. From the plantains to the cabbage, this plate is the best thing on the menu. Located inside the Blossom Market Hall, the spot offers loads of parking outside. plenty of seating inside and a couple of table outside. Didn't wait too long for my food. I was in and out about 10 mins?

This is the hidden gem. The food is great and must try! We ordered the oxtail stew. The owner Yonette is extremely nice and helpful. She is willing to be interview my a middle schooler for her science project. (while other stores rejected us @ 3pm). She told us the unsold food will donate to church. This is a kind act and blessing to the community.Parking: many parkingKid-friendliness: Very friendly, kind, patience to the kid.

I got the Jamaican jerk chicken from here and I was not disappointed by the flavors or portions. The chicken was not spicy but was nicely seasoned with spices. It was soft and nicely cooked. It comes with stewed cabbage, plantains and rice. The rice is what intrigued me because it contained beans and had a coconutty taste. It surprisingly worked really well, and I really enjoyed it. I've been reading comments about the oxtail, and that is a plate that I will be back to try in the future! Very simple menu with bold flavors! We got our food quickly, and there are seats inside and outside of the blossom market hall where you can enjoy the food. Parking is not hard to find as there are plenty!

"A Taste of Island Paradise in San Gabriel"Eating at Caribbean Gourmet is like taking a trip to see long time friends during the Holiday. Yonette, her family, and staff have really become a part of the community. The real magic though, is in the food. The warm aroma of spices fills the air, immediately transporting on a culinary vacation.Jamaican patties: These golden pockets of heaven are a must-try. The flaky pastry encases a savory filling of seasoned meat and vegetables, bursting with flavor in every bite. Each bite is a symphony of textures and tastes, leaving you wanting more. True story; I once ordered 50 of them for my Christmas party, and the team delivered. Everyone at the party wanted to take some home.Oxtail: This dish is a true Caribbean classic, and Caribbean Gourmet does it justice. The slow-cooked oxtail is melt-in-your-mouth tender, falling off the bone with just a touch. The rich and flavorful gravy perfectly complements the meat, making each forkful an absolute delight.Jerk chicken: This iconic dish is a must-have for any Caribbean food enthusiast. The jerk seasoning at Caribbean Gourmet is spot-on, infusing the chicken with a smoky, spicy, and slightly sweet flavor that's truly unforgettable. Top notch excellent oxtails seasoned to perfection! My go-to for oxtails other than my own. Also, the chicken dishes are delicious and superb! Was treated for my birthday & will come again & again! I say excellent is an understatement...Triple 5 Stars - Kevin Owens

Since they opened around the corner from me I must stop in to pick up food regularly. As the only real caribbean food place in LA County people come from San Diego to eat when they see the weekly specials on the website. Roti, Jerk Salmon Fridays, Doubles on special occasions..., I now check.the website to decide the best days to a stop by. But the Sorrel is great any day. A favorite foodie place to eat.Vegetarian options: I pick up vegetarian options for friends & then they put Caribbean Gourmet on there favorite foodie list.

(Dined 03/03/23 FR @ 4:30pm): Gourmet Caribbean food... why not!?I met a good friend and former colleague at Caribbean Gourmet to plan and finalize an upcoming cruise to the Caribbean. She lived in San Gabriel and recommended the Blossom Market Hall where we were bound to find something to eat. Sure enough, it was like kismet that we dined at this restaurant. Would this female-owned eatery be a welcomed precursor to our cruise and the potential gourmet offerings throughout the Caribbean!?PURCHASEJamaican Sorrel Hibiscus Drink ($5.00 ea.): I've never had this drink before, but after it was described to me by the cashier, I was sold. Somewhat sweet with hints of earthiness and spiciness, there was also a bit of consistency. It was rather enjoyable. yelp.com/user_local_phot…Vegetarian Patty ($5.00): Basically a large empanada, I enjoyed the light flaky shell while the inside was packed with healthy goodness. This wasn't quite a meal but it could've been for some. yelp.com/user_local_phot…Vegan Curry w/Rice & Peas ($14.00): Curried assorted vegetables served with coconut rice & peas and channa (spiced chickpeas), this large portion size was every bit tasty from start to finish (I was in a food coma once I ate the whole thing!). The curried vegetables had an easy kick to them and almost dissolved in your mouth. The rice (I couldn't recall any peas) was aromatic, somewhat buttery, and fluffy. The channa wasn't as spicy as expected but yummy nonetheless. A hearty lovely meal! yelp.com/user_local_phot…Pineapple Tart ($5.00): A pastry I saved for the next morning, I simply microwaved it for 15-seconds, and it was "fresh" again. Flaky and sweet, I only wished there was more pineapple to devour. yelp.com/user_local_phot…SERVICEI initially walked the entire food hall before I decided on Caribbean Gourmet. Again, it just seemed too perfect! I quickly spotted some viable options since it was my "no-meat Friday", easily placed my order with a friendly male behind the counter, received an order buzzer and my bottled drinks, found a place to eat, and about 10 minutes later the buzzer lit up. I quickly retrieved my food and returned to my table. There was no table service, so I disposed of my trash and off I went once we were done. Straightforward service and I loved it - thank you!PARKING (Varied; FREE this instance)Although I parked on the street (plenty of spaces) in a timed spot along the main drag of San Gabriel Blvd., yelp.com/user_local_phot… there was also a large public parking lot behind the food hall - 'nuff said.ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCEA separate food stall located inside the Blossom Market Hall, it was simply an order counter with a legible menu on the counter. The hall was filled with a ton of other food stalls and communal bar tables. There was a decent amount of natural lighting while plenty of electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were no TVs while music played in the background. yelp.com/user_local_phot…ATTIRETotally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops.OVERALLDining at Caribbean Gourmet perfectly put me in the right frame of mind for the upcoming Caribbean cruise, and I would love to return to try their meat dishes. Everything I ate and drank was lip-smacking good, the prices were very comparable for the portion size (I felt the pastry was priced a tad high), the menu was limited, and the service was easy and straightforward. Plus, it was always a pleasure to support a mom & pop small business. I found total value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL experience was around $37.00 BEFORE any discounts/tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice...
