Garage Restaurant Reviews

We decided to try this place after walking by and seeing the chef making fresh dumplings. The food is Northern Chinese with Tianjin specialities. I don't understand the poor reviews. Dumplings and buns were made to order and were wonderful quality with tasty juice inside (see the pictures). Stinky tofu smelled strong in a good fermented way but still not as potent tasting as places in Asia.

Food is super tasty and very authentic, the baozi (buns) are definitely the highlight - my parents said these are the most authentic baozi they've found so far in 25 years of living in the US. Place is run entirely by an older couple, so imagine you're going to your aunt and uncle's for the afternoon - no sterling silverware here, and don't go if you're busy or pressed for time.

The people who rank this low complained of things that seem to be either untrue or very superficial. The stinky tofu was stinky and strong, the way it should be and not like someone complained about. The food was hot and fresh. The service was good and the atmosphere was welcoming.
