Kiosk for self-service ordering is automatically in Chinese but if you click the white icon on the bottom left it gives you the option to change to English. Saw someone else say it was only in Chinese and thought this would be helpful for anyone else who might be confused or maybe this is a new option. Anyhow, I only stopped by here because my personal favorite boba spot that's only a few stores down closes earlier so I thought I'd try something new. I got one of their most popular drinks, a mango smoothie with agar boba @ 100% sweetness & I added lychee jelly to it which I wish I didn't do because the lychee flavor totally took over and I could hardly taste the mango. Should I ever return? I'll probably get the same drink without the lychee but it'll do for now. Definitely won't be replacing 3cattea for me anytime soon though.

What a disappointment. I saw their Happy Hour combo advertisement outside and was interested, but of course, turned out it was just a way to get hapless customers inside. Supposedly out of the Oreo Brûlée that was advertised, and when I tried to pick another drink, that was also sold out. And another one wasn't included in the promotion. Then what could I get? Very confusing. Sold out on a Monday afternoon? Really? If items that are part of an advertised promotion are sold out, they need to designate and offer a suitable replacement, or take the damn advertisement down! I ended up just getting a basic Milk Tea. And it didn't stop there! To make matters worse, they didn't even have boba! The poor cashier looked embarrassed. Such a shame too, because she actually made a really good drink. Rich and pretty tasty, just missing boba. Unfortunately I doubt I'll be coming back here.

3 stars Not quite what I expected. It is located in the same store as Hey Chicken...which kind of makes business sense...but the interior decor is mainly Hey Chicken. Anyways, service is friendly. The drink I got was Castle in the Sky ($4.49) which is a coconut flavor drink. It was ok and probably best suited for coconut lovers. I also had to try their Popcorn Chicken ($7.59) and I thought the chicken was seasoned well and pretty lean. There wasn't much of a crunch factor though. Portion was decent. Overall, can't complain. I might come back for happy hour next time.

Another new boba shop in the SGV has opened up! Mist Tea Shop recently opened up on Valley, a few shops down from 3catea. It's now in conjunction with the Hey Chicken!, serving both drinks and chicken to customers. Mist Tea actually has locations in City of Industry and Walnut (but drinks only, I belive). They currently offer a promotion where if you order from their chicken menu, you can get a drink at a discounted price. Interior is decked out in yellow, still resembling the chicken place that used to be there prior to Mist Tea. There's a kiosk to order chicken items, but it seems like everything is in Chinese only. They do have an online menu where you can order items to-go; however, not all items from the online menu are available in store, unfortunately. So I went with a fruity tea, ordering the orange and grapefruit tea with 70% sugar and less ice. Drink had both orange and grapefruit slices. I did feel like the tea was slightly watered down and could do with more flavor. Perhaps it would be better at 100% sugar. (This drink is usually $6.25, but when ordered with a meal, it came down to $4.75.)Ordered the cheese foam oolong tea ($2.49 plus $0.50 for cheese foam - drink is usually $4.50 if not discounted). Unfortunately, I think they messed up and gave me oolong milk tea with the cheese foam seemingly mixed into the drink. Taste wasn't bad at all though, just a tad bit sweet - probably because the cheese foam had melted into the drink. I watched them blend the cheese foam into a blender to become more liquidized, so I think they are still attempting to figure out the drinks. Hopefully next time, the cheese foam will be able to sit on top of the tea vs blended inside; however, I could actually taste the oolong flavor, which was nutty and milky. And lastly, ordered a wintermelon tea with grass jelly (usually $5 but only $1.99 + $0.50 for the topping when ordered with a chicken item). We wanted the wintermelon latte, but they said this wasn't yet available. This drink was probably one of the better ones out of the ones I ordered. At 70% sweet, this was the perfect amount of sweetness. The grass jelly seemed a tad bit overcooked though; it was a little bit gooey, but not too bad. Definitely would reorder this again. For their food, I ended up trying the popcorn chicken. ($7.59) The popcorn chicken here is more like mini fried chicken pieces (similar to the ones at Popeyes), not like other boba tea shop's popcorn chicken. Crisp was good, flavor was mildly spicy, and I liked that there were pieces of real chicken inside each piece. There's about 8-10 tables inside the restaurant. Workers are nice and friendly, Mandarin-speaking. They seem to still be figuring out how to make the drinks, but for soft opening, they weren't too bad. Parking is not the easiest as there's construction on Valley. You can opt for street parking, or go around the corner and attempt to find a spot in the small parking lot.
