The old world vibe complete with black velvet chairs hasn't changed at all over the years. The menu is not quite as expansive as some of their competitors but they do the job, and service is mostly quick - we got about 80% of our meal right away, had to wait quite a while for the last 20%.
It's hard to find authentic Shanghai cuisine in the Los Angeles area, but after tasting it today, I found there is no difference with what I had in Shanghai. In fact, the quality of the ingredients might even better that of Shanghai, making the flavors even more delicious. I also really like the decor here and the service staff, which all strongly reflect the essence of Shanghai.-腔调!
The dim sum was good though not exceptional. Tha Har gow were good as were the meat balls but I cannot rate them above a B-.
The decor was certainly unique. I am guessing it is Victorian.
