We ordered “bánh cuốn” and the food is pretty good, plus I like the packing too!

I grew up eating banh uot from Tay Ho in Westminster, so I was excited to see a location pop up in San Gabriel. I work in LA now and there’s not exactly an abundance of banh cuon places in 626. The few that are there close earlier than I get off work, and Tay Ho San Gabriel closes at 8. So on days that I’m in the office, Tay Ho San Gabriel is literally the only place I can get banh cuon or banh uot in SGV.
I ordered online a few hours ahead of time and set my pick-up time for 7:20. The food was waiting for us on the counter when we arrived. I wish that there was table service available, but this place is a takeout spot. There are, however, a couple of tables inside for anyone that wants to eat there (which we did). Also, there is no bathroom for customers, so dining there was not the most comfortable option. For a takeout spot though, this was pretty good. The packaging and branding is really cute, and if I were to have this delivered to me via a food delivery app, I wouldn’t be mad. I love/hate the assemblable chopsticks because they are so cute and look like lego lightsabers but are so flimsy and frustrating to eat with. I also think that the food, although still yummy and perfectly edible, did not exactly taste the freshest, probably because it is a takeout joint. Also, I really liked my lychee green tea.
For the foreseeable future, I will continue to order from this location for my banh cuon cravings when I go in the office… because this is literally my only option.

Came here to try their bun cuon. Pretty average. I got their pork and mushroom roll set ($15 as of 2025)
Came with a sweet potato fritter, Vietnamese ham, their house sauce, bean sprouts, fried garlic chips, and the noodle rolls. The rolls were chewy and thin and filled with a good amount of ground pork, wood ear mushrooms and onions. The onions were something I usually don’t find in bun cuon. The house sauce was like fish sauce but with garlic. That and the garlic chips added a nice umami savoriness. The Vietnamese ham was like bologna. More oily and bland than usual. The veggies were crunchy and fresh. The sweet potato fritter was the most unique and best thing. Crunchy, crispy, and slightly sweet. The packaging and utensils given were really high quality.
Overall though, it’s pretty pricey and mid. A one and done experience. Not necessarily bad or good.
Pros: packaging, lots of filling, fresh
Cons: expensive, wait time took 15-20 minutes for one thing

In my opinion, the restaurant use a fancy container and tote bag for a to go. Nice presentation but I am more into the taste of the foods so I said it was pricy.

Tried the Tay Ho Banh Cuon Set and I was very pleased. The togo box made it easy to take home, eat, and discard without any fuss. The fritter was crispy and not too sweet. The crepe was juicy and the filling was tasty. Would love to try their other menu items in the near future.

Another week, another banh mi review.
Nice looking small shop that specializes in banh mi.
Very pleased with the cleaness of the store, but the banh mi was very hard to eat. The reason is the bread they used is hard and I mean hard. If you can imagine going to some Italian restaurant and they give you some sliced bread as appetizer food while you wait. Those bread have a hard crust that you can dip into olive oil and snack on. This banh mi uses those type of bread. The gum on my teeth is still crying .
The meat was also a bit too oily for my taste. It soaks into the bread. Not good.

Got the special box with the 3 different rolls, fried sweet potato, nem nuong, cha lua, egg roll. The food was overall good but the egg roll and potato fritter was a bit old probably from day or two before. Overall it was tasty but I prefer the OG location in Westminster.

I ordered from Postmates, and this might be the best restaurant that I have ever found just from a random Postmates search. If you’re thinking about ordering from them, just do it - you won’t regret it. I have been a huge fan of eating Bun noodle bowls for more than 20 years now and this is one of the best I’ve ever had. The egg rolls were phenomenal as well. Will definitely be ordering this a lot from now on. Thanks guys!!

I ordered delivery twice from here. Both times I got the banh cuon, an order of spring roll, and che thai. The banh cuon is not bad. It came with a side of sweet potato fritters which I didn’t really care for. The che thai is good too; a nice dessert after the meal. However, the spring rolls need some help. Both times I ordered the spring rolls the wrap rips apart. It’s also meh and I would skip next time.

Tay Ho in San Gabriel impressed with their Banh Cuon Set - classic steamed rice crepes with delicious fillings like pork & mushroom rolls and crispy shrimp fritters. Their grilled meat sets are similar, featuring BBQ pork or grilled ham. The lemongrass chicken in Bun was flavorful and refreshing. They also offer unique drinks like Pandan Coffee and delicious Che Ba Mau desserts. Great spot for quick, authentic Vietnamese food!

Clean takeout only in a small shopping strip. The banh xeo was really good, the sauce, nước Chấm, was actually. There prices were reasonable. Eating there is challenging because they only give you a box so spreading it out to roll it with the lettuce then dip was messy. The accompanying herbs was actually really authentic, là lộc, only the Vietnam we and Japanese would eat.Protip. Eating there is not an option even though they a few stools with wall table but it's actually meant to people waiting to pick up order.

Great Vietnamese to-go place in Sunny Plaza. I never had the bahn cuon before so not sure what to expect but it turned out very good. Everything in the box is fresh and tastes good. The pandan coffee is also great. Not too strong coffee but strong pandan flavor (which is great!). The rice and noodle are like Asian fusion. At lunch time the wait could take long. Servers are so nice!
