Racism is all over this restaurant so BIPOC Community isn’t welcome

Limited menu. Food was just average.

Service was inattentive and slightly rude. Pricing was a bit shady. After getting the check and providing my card, it came back and the receipt had another charge added to it.

Food was good but extremely slow service for our group party Saturday night. Women's rest room was a mess with water all around the toilet.

WELL WORTH A VISIT! The menu is smaller & simpler than it used to be pre-pandemic, and the usual post-pandemic-restaurant blips abound (too few servers, a teaspoon rather than a soup spoon provided for our soup, one incorrect drink brought - but we didn't say anything :) because we know they are trying hard!). Nevertheless, this place has a fabulous chef. Every appetizer and entrée we ordered was totally delicious! We sat out on their nice patio and enjoyed our meal immensely. We tipped well despite the blips because every restaurant is having these issues, and we customers have to help them get back on their feet! We will definitely return to 71 Saint Peter.

Enjoyed the ambiance. Had a nice, relaxing, enjoyable evening before going to a play at SJ Center for Performing Arts. It is a limited menu, but the food was very good and the service was great.

The place was dirty - cobwebs, general grime. The bathroom was very dirty, with rings around the toilet rim as well as where the water met the bowl. The food was ok. The waiter was very good, friendly and knowledgeable. There was no coffee after dinner (they were out). We will not be coming back as there are much better choices downtown.

Our reservation was at 7:15p and the whole time we felt like we were being rushed out, I noticed the staff was turning people away around 8 which I thought was odd cause their hours had them closing at 9:30p .. For the price point food was meh.

I was so looking forward to dinner at 71 Saint Peter. My mom and I were in town (from Canada) for the Andrea Bocelli concert and I had planned a very special evening for her. Unfortunately, there was a wedding booked at the restaurant and so we had to eat outside. Although not cold, it was breezy and a little cool, not great for my 80+ Mother. The staff did put out a better table for her than what had been set up which I very much appreciated. The menu was reduced, due to the wedding I'm sure. Unfortunately this meant that she couldn't have the salmon linguini dish that she was looking forward to. She had the crab cakes instead but she said they were salty. My mushroom risotto was excellent. The wait staff were attentive. If I had known we would be outside with limits I never would have booked here. It was not the experience I wanted for my Mom's bucket list concert evening.

The items we ordered were quite good but the number of items on the menu that I would order is very limited so I sm not likely to return soon. The servers were very nice but the outdoor ambience was pretty basic. We used to really like this restaurant. I hope they return to their former level of excellence. .

My party of four arrived at 71 Saint Peter Restaurant at 6:40 PM on a Saturday and was seated right away on a reservation basis. The restaurant is located in a busy downtown area, alongside the street with other restaurants. Since the weather was nice out, we chose to sit outside. We were given water and menus right away. We started off with appetizers and ordered the bruschetta and roasted lamb flatbread. They were AMAZING appetizers. I give a solid 10/10 for both of them. For the main dish, I ordered the parmesan crusted tilapia, and it was DELICIOUS. Everything about is was SO GOOD. Loved the presentation, loved the taste. It was awesome. Customer service was great too. Our server was nice. They brought us another drink when pollen had fallen into our drinks, refilled our drinks at appropriate times, and even told us about their dessert options for convenience instead of bringing the menus back out. I had a great experience here, so I totally recommend 71 Saint Peter Restaurant if you are in town.

The menu was small but what we had was excellent. Had the brussel sprouts, apple salad and the New York steak. All were delicious. Staff was friendly and very efficient. Will be back again!

Great cocktails. Shrimp cakes had a thick, tough crust on the outside. I cut it open and ate the inside. Dressing on the warm spinach salad was just warm, tasteless oil flavored with bacon. Unpleasant. Strawberry cheesecake was ok. I don't know if I would eat here again, but would get drinks. Nice outdoor seating. Inside is dark and kind of depressing.

Earlier in the day, I decided to have dinner in San Jose. I wanted to find a place relatively close to SAP Center. I performed a quick Google Map search and spotted 71 Saint Peter. Many of the menu items sounded tasty, so that's where I picked. I took BART to Berryessa and then the VTA 500 to 5th Street. As I walked up, I was startled by the fact that no one was eating in the restaurant! Only one party of two was seated on the patio. Come to find out, the dining room was reserved for a private party to be held later that night. I was told if I didn't mind sitting outside, they'd be happy to serve me. That's what I had in mind, so all was well. To start, I ordered the Pan-fried Shrimp Cakes and the Carrot Ginger Soup. Both were a thrilling surprise! For my entree, I chose the Gorgonzola Burger. Wow! The temperature, portion size, and flavor were all dialed in. Based on how good the food was, I felt compelled to write this review and, hopefully, drum up some business for them.
