Their meatball subs are amazing! Their other sandwiches are also delicious and I love how you can see them cook the meat and prepare it. Staff is also friendly and curtious!

My preferred Amatos location.

Still just as delicious as I remember! I came here nearly 20 years ago, and the cheesesteaks are still absolutely mouthwatering. Bill, the owner, was off today (it is Sunday after all — well deserved!) but the food and the staff were as friendly and welcoming as ever. A true classic that never disappoints.

The menu has changed from the last time I visit this place. It seems that they’re trying to minimize the amount of items there since most of the items that were removed from the menu were not much ordered by customers. Or it could be that they’re trying to cut costs.

Nothing has really changed so far. I find that the fries are better than the cheesesteaks in my opinions since they’re freshly cut with some extra crispiness. Doesn’t really mean that the cheesesteaks are bad. I’m still shocked that not only that small fries are like regular fries but the smallest size of the cheesesteaks, which is shorty, is like a regular size.

Pretty much the atmosphere is the same except that they added a kiosk for us to order online. I still say that this is one of the cheesesteak restaurants in the Bay Area.

Oh, now I know what a cheesesteak is SUPPOSED to taste like! Really enjoyed mine. Recommend having it with mustard and extra black pepper!

Never bad still always get the #10!

Try the provolone cheese instead of white American.

They used to have a ton of different hot sauces to try along the walls & peppers on the counter in a big jar for the taking.

Now, they only have crystal & peppers are $.25/ea.

It's been years since I've had Amato's but the sandwiches are still just as good!

So good and so helpful. The chicken cheesesteaks were super. My 85 year old mother and I shared (60/40) a 7 in sandwich for lunch and it was so good. My mother raved about it and wants to go back. They don't have unsweetened iced tea so suggested I run next door and buy one to bring in to drink- so nice!

Best Philly I’ve ever had. Tasty beef, gooey cheese, soft bread that holds up. What else could you want? Throw in some house made potato chips and call it a day.

Nothing wrong with the sandwiches but nothing noteworthy about them either. I tried the chicken & beef cheesesteaks, respectively & I had the sausage & peppers, with the S&P being the best. The bread is just ok & the meat of all 3 sandwiches lacks any seasoning or marination in herbs & spice but the S&P came together well enough for you to overlook it. People mention the portion sizes being large but I don't understand why that is looked at like a selling point because these are the most expensive sandwiches, outside of gourmet fine dining, that I've ever seen, so one would hope that the place charging you nigh $30 for a footlong sandwich gives you a generous portion. This is a place to come only for people who have disposable income.

Restaurant was dirty and food was messy and tasteless. The price is also high for the food. Can easily find a better sandwich in most other places.
