Good flavors ?Finding parking is competitive so come early.
We arrived pretty late for dinner so we were the only ones in the restaurant. We didn't mind having the place to ourselves, the wait staff was friendly and let us be but was also attentive if we had needed anything. This is our 2nd time here but I didn't review it then. This time I had ordered appetizers. Wasn't too hungry, and plus I didn't want anything heavy before bed.I got the banh ram it, banh beo, and banh nam.The banh ram it here us by far the best I had. I swear it is better than Hue, across the way. The crispy fried part was perfectly crispy and airy and not soggy. Just the right amount of crisp that went perfectly with the mochi dumpling. The banh nam was really tasty. Easy to get off the banana leaf. Tender and not overly sticky. The meat had really good flavor. The banh beo, well you can't beat them all as they say. I could have done with out it. Hue does have this on lock. Didn't have the right texture or enough flavor.I will def come back for the appetizers.
Amazing
Definitely great taste. Just that compared to other great places in San Jose, it doesn't deserve 5 stars. The meat was so tendered and I love it.
Bunbohue here is an okay for me. It doesn't have a special taste that makes my heart want to come back. It doesn't have the special flavor for me to rremember. It's totally different than the Story location. NO wait or reservation. The place is quite, and that's why the staff should be more mindful. Eating in the front, but I was able to hear the staff conversation in the back :((
There's something lacking in the BunBoHue here . There's definitely enough meat and blood cakes and portion is right, but the broth isn't integrated well into the noodles. It almost seems like the noodle was added and have not completely soaked up the broth. Same issue with the ingredients of the noodle bowl. All required meats and tendons are there, but they seem separated from the broth. It almost seems like the individual components are added cold, and not cooked together in one pot. My reference for BunBoHue would be a light but hearty broth with various tendons and blood cake and meats, along with rice noodles. This isn't it unfortunately.
You normally have to sacrifice good service for good food at most Vietnamese restaurants, but definitely not here! Dishes come out piping hot and full of flavor. I came here with my boyfriend to introduce him to Vietnamese food and we definitely will be coming back. There's two TVS--one normally plays Vietnamese entertainment, while the other plays a Netflix movie/show/animation that kids could enjoy. Staff is incredibly sweet and accommodating. The bathroom is also shockingly clean and slightly reminiscent of a hotel-style restroom. Check this place out, and try the com bo luc lac (shaking beef cubes and rice)!
