Food was meh. Table service was weird - I don’t know why restaurants use wide serving bowls when their tables are small. Also all of that can be excused if the food is good, but as I said - food’s meh at best.

Overall, the food was ok.
My tea leaf salad was very bitter because way to much tea leaf in the salad.
Chicken Biryani was very tough, side salad was good. My friend like the Burmese Chicken Curry, ice cream and cocktail. My opinion way too many choices on the menu. Staff are nice and friendly. I'm not sure I would go back.

If you are looking for “authentic”, don’t go here.
If you want interesting flavoured food then, yes, do go here.
This review is for those people actually looking for “authentic”.
Do not get the Rainbow Salad. Lacking some ingredients, especially the tamarind sauce. When asked for tamarind sauce, I was brought DILUTED Chinese sweet and sour sauce! No tamarind in sight. It was confirmed by the server that this was Burma Roots’ “tamarind” sauce. 👎🏻
The Fish Chowder Noodle Soup (Moat Hingar) was another miss. This dish is a Burmese staple for goodness sake. Get it right. Not a fish in sight. (At least nothing that resembled fish). And tasteless.
The Coconut Noodles Soup (0hn Noe Kout Swel) was acceptable. I would order this again.
I frequent the BURMA TWO restaurant in Walnut Creek.
No contest. BURMA TWO wins by miles. And they spell the name of the Burmese food correctly. 🧐
Again, if you are NOT looking for “authentic”, I WOULD recommend eating here just to get a flavour of another country’s food, albeit non-authentic.

Burma Roots is a lovely addition to the Willow Glen dining scene. The ambiance is warm and inviting — perfect for a relaxed evening out or a casual get-together with friends. The menu offers a wonderful range of vegetarian options, each dish full of fresh flavors and beautifully presented.
The staff are friendly and attentive, and a special shoutout to Luis, the manager, who goes out of his way to make guests feel welcome and cared for. His genuine hospitality adds a personal touch that makes the dining experience even more enjoyable.
Overall, a great spot for anyone looking to enjoy delicious Burmese cuisine in a comfortable, modern setting.

Been here three times in the past three months, each time has been great. Staff is super friendly, knowledgeable of the menu, and attentive to the right level. The venue is at the old Opa and is a welcome addition to Willow Glen. In my opinion, Burma Roots is the best in the South Bay, can't wait to return.

Came to the soft opening and was very pleased. Went back to watch football at the bar and major shout out to Heather at my bar for the drink recommendations, excellent service, and persistence in trying to get the Thursday night Amazon Prime game on. We will be back! It's a luxury to have good Burmese so close.
