The TORTAS AHOGADAS were not what we expected at the very least, we must recognize that the effort is there but it is not what is said on the WEB, TIKTOK, YouTube because it is not in the flavor of what is exported from Mexico to this area of the world (Bay Area) the idea is good but the development is NOT, the price is exaggerated but it is not even remotely one that can be "BALANCED IN WHAT YOU RECEIVE FOR WHAT YOU PAY"... and it is for those of us who grew up in the middle of where a debt arises from those who advertise "BEING THE BEST" when one of the main elements of this dish is THE SPICY SAUCE, it is far from at least "imitating" the flavor and taste when it reaches your palate, why is this SPICY SAUCE in This dish always has a slight taste of VINEGAR and is in question IT SIMPLY DOES NOT OFFER IT TO YOU EVEN REMOTELY, in the tomato sauce you would only have to blame them for an excess of OREGANO, the pork well balanced and perhaps very minced but acceptable, no I noticed the presence of REFRIED BEANS IN THE BREAD, the bread is not CRISPY (even if it is heated in an oven) of acceptable taste but never like the one offered by other less crowded (or advertised) places right there in San Jose, the price at reviewing would also be TOPIC TO DISCUSS, because 4 TACOS DE CANASTA/$14.10 is really exaggerated but it is worth saying that from experience a popular saying applies and it is "DEBUT AND FAREWELL"Los TORTAS AHOGADAS no fueron lo que esperábamos mínimo, hay que reconocer que el esfuerzo está pero no es lo que se dice en la WEB, TIKTOK, YouTube porque no está en el sabor de lo que se exporta desde México a este zona del mundo (Bay Area) la idea es buena pero el desarrollo NO, el precio es exagerado pero no es ni remotamente uno que se pueda "EQUILIBRAR EN LO QUE RECIBES POR LO QUE PAGAS"... y es para los que crecimos en medio de donde surge una deuda con quienes anuncian "SER LOS MEJORES" cuando uno de los elementos principales de este platillo es LA SALSA PICANTE, está lejos de al menos "imitar" el sabor y el gusto. cuando llega a tu paladar por qué esta SALSA PICANTE en Este plato siempre tiene un ligero sabor a VINAGRE y está en duda SIMPLEMENTE NO TE LO OFRECE NI POR REMODEL, en la salsa de tomate solo tendrías que echarles la culpa de un exceso de ORÉGANO, la carne de cerdo bien equilibrada y quizás muy picada pero aceptable, no noté la presencia de FRIJOLES REFRITOS EN EL PAN, el pan no queda CRUJIENTE (aunque se caliente en horno) de sabor aceptable pero nunca como el que se ofrece por otros lugares menos concurridos (o publicitados) ahí mismo en San José, el precio en reseña también sería TEMA A DISCUTAR, porque 4 TACOS DE CANASTA/$14.10 es realmente exagerado pero vale decir que por experiencia aplica un dicho popular y es " DEBUT Y DESPEDIDA"SOLO QUEDA RECONOCER QUÉ HAY OTRO..." QUIEN NO CONOCE A DIOS... A CUALQUIER MONO LE HACE REVERENCIAS" y es que si alguien ha tenido la oportunidad de comer un TORTA AHOGADA EN GUADALAJARA, podrá expresar lo mismo

I was glad there was a parking lot with lots of empty spots. As soon as I enter the restaurant I was greeted by the lady cashier and gave me some time to choose from the menu posted in the wall, it was hard to decide because there were items I haven’t tasted before. I decided to go with a mixed plate called Lotería, the plate contained one mini Torta Ahogada, one Taco de Canasta, one Taco Dorado and one Taco de Barbacoa, I paid $18.00 and was given a number on a stand and was invited to seat anywhere. I sat right across of a salsa bar looking over to the patio, the patio had seating for about 50 People, the room blend in with the piñatas and colorful banners with Papel Picado to give it that special fiesta Mexicana theme party. My food arrived on two plates, the torta ahogada had the pull pork look and had the taco dorado right next to it, this two items were plated with a side of sliced cabbage, pickled white onions with small pieces of habanero and pickled red onions, the food was covered by a nice red sauce that you are supposed to sink your torta before you eat, the torta roll had the rich texture as to not to fall apart, the cabbage and onions complemented both the torta and the taco dorado. On the other plate I had the savory Barbacoa with just the right level of spices, the taco de canasta consisted of soft chicharron, the avocado salsa from the salsa bar was delicious and had a bit of heat on it, the other salsa molcajete was spicy hot. Overall it was a nice experience that I will repeat soon

Ana ..

I have ordered from this place before it was good but today I order again and when I opened the box there was a live fly in the box on top of the food . When I say I wanted to throw up does not come close . As a place were there is food being prepared there should be more measures to insure the safety of the customer never buying from here again ..

I'm from Guadalajara and these tortas ahogadas are by far the best in the bay area. I have been a customer for years and they have added more and more to their menu. Great quality, great service and great taste, feels like home.

Finally, last Saturday, I had the chance to try this place for the first time. I ENJOYED every bite of my food, the services, the accommodations, and the atmosphere. It is an authentic Mexican place: You can see the kitchen and how they are prepared the food from scratch, you can smell those familiar aromas, and there is a salsa station (with lemons, onions, and cilantro included), and of course, the handmade tortilla station. The menu has something for everyone, plenty of vegetarian options, and the Aguas Frescas are delicious! For lunch, I had:- Tacos dorados (requeson and potato)- Tacos de Barbacoa (it comes with broth and double tortilla)- Strawberry agua fresca- All the salsas!!!Worth the driving!

Tortas Ahogadas Tradicion Tapatia was recommended by a Mexican mom! It is located in the "Cinderella" area of San Jose. Their focus is on food / traditional menu from Guadalajara, Mexico. Yum!!We visited in late July 2021. We tried the Tacos de Camaron and Tacos de Barbacoa. Delicious!! Enjoy!!

BIROTE CHARRO. That's it. Period. Everyone is out here doing quesabirrias and birria everything but the birote charro is where it's at. It's a baguette style bun ( i think I read somewhere they're baked in house ? Not sure though) it's crispy and it holds up perfectly to the juicy birria. THEN they give you the consomé on the side for that juicy dipping action. WOW. They pair it with a salsa roja that's spicy but so delicious! They also gave me an extra birria taco, not sure if they all come with it but it was a nice surprise. Although, when I first saw it looked kinda small it was filling. If you have a birria torta craving THIS IS IT. The horchata is really good as well.Went on a Sunday at 6 pm and it was pretty empty. I will definitely be returning to try some other menu items like tacos de canasta.
