Although it seems like it's Chinese food, it's actually very authentic Vietnamese food. Lots of great egg noodle soup variations. Food is very affordable - maybe $10-15 per bowl. The waiter pointed us to a seat but some folks sat took and therefore took our table. But I am grateful that the waiter did the hard decision to boot them out and seat us first. Note: I recommend their coconut juice drink. It's so refreshing!

With a name like China Chen I was kind of skeptical even with good reviews. The large number 27, combination rice noodle soup hit the spot for a cold and windy Saturday. Think flat rice noodles, a chicken broth with Fish cake, squid, pork. The have a bunch of hot sauces, vinegar, pickled jalapenos on the table. Prices are reasonable about $13.50 a bowl before tip. The service is about what you expect from college kids A lot of booth tables inside. Street parking

China Chen is one of my favorite restaurants to eat at during my down time from school, especially since it's within walking distance! The restaurant gives a homey ambiance and service is always quick and helpful with any questions/requests you have. My usual is always the #10 Shrimp Wonton Egg Noodle Soup ($13.50), #2 Fried Shrimp Wonton ($9.75 and comes with 6 pieces), and occasionally the #1 Fried Flour Cake with Egg. The taste is always consistent and hits especially on cold, gloomy days. The shrimp dumplings always taste fresh, especially since I always see grandmas neatly preparing them in one of the booths LOL. Portion-wise, the soup can honestly last me two meals and the #1 and #2 are great for sharing. Definitely stop by China Chen if you're in the area or even if you're hella far because these shrimp dumplings are worth the drive!

Really loved the simple and comforting egg noodle soup with pork and wontons. The fried wontons were super flavorful. The egg noodles were also perfectly firm and chewy.

Banh Bot Chien Trung is my favorite here. The place stays the same for years. Shrimp wonton soup is ok, a bit salty to me. Fried shrimp wonton is good too.

China Chen’s wonton soup cures what ails you. I had a cold, so got the shrimp wonton soup with thin noodles and extra broccoli. They packed it so nicely—wonton separated from the soup—that when I got home, the broth was still hot and the noodles and wonton were not soggy The shrimp were tender and the broccoli was perfect. Tasty! I’ll get two meals out of this, and my cold should be gone by morning.

Worst place ever. I went on a not very busy weekend noon. I told him one person and the waiter put me on a side table. When I’m ready to order, the other guy came basically given me this impatience gesture tell me to wait. Okay, no “I’ll be right with you.” Fine. And when he’s ready, he told me to move to a different table. I’m like no, there are at least 4-5 empty tables and they given me this one, I’ll be quick in&out. Then the first waiters came, basically these two guys wants me to move or no order. That’s their “policy”, bullying ppl with their mistake. I can choose whatever seat I want! Surprised they are in the business for so long. So disrespectful and rude. So I left.I’ve previously been to this place. Be aware of the MSG too.

The light tonkotsu soup, wontons with large shrimp, and thinly sliced chashu are gentle on the stomach. Thank you for the meal!
