Love DR. Dunk. We always have a great time there. Love this years theme and the drinks are amazing.
Very disrespectful to guests. Horrible night - Richard the security guard snatched drinks from our hands (that they had just sold us) as the night ended to kick us out. A simple request to leave if they were closing would have done instead :(
This place blew my mind, as a frequent tiki bar girl came here mostly for drinks and maybe a “bar snack” but the food was AMAZING

Dr. Funk is hands-down one of the best late-night spots in San Jose, especially if you’re hanging out with friends in San Pedro Square. The vibe here is energetic yet laid-back, making it the perfect place to unwind after a long day or kick off a fun night out.
The first thing that impressed me was how quick and easy the ordering process was. The staff is friendly, efficient, and always ready to recommend drinks if you’re not sure what to try. Speaking of drinks—this is where Dr. Funk really shines! Their cocktail menu is creative and full of unique flavors, with every drink beautifully presented. Whether you’re into tropical, fruity blends or bold, strong mixes, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
The outdoor seating area is a huge plus, especially on warm evenings. It’s a great spot for conversations, laughs, and people-watching in the heart of San Pedro Square. The casual atmosphere makes it perfect for both small groups and bigger hangouts.

Such a fun tiki bar!! Just went on a Friday night & the tiki vibe was so fun! The mai Tais are so legit and amazing!
The ice they used is superior and just adds to the amazingness of the drink. Bar tenders were super nice and fast at drink making. The food was good, I only tried the curry fries but others ordered food and liked it but I was too busy w the mai Tais.
Also a fun outdoors section w fire pits! I don't know why I couldn't find this place when I was first walking up, but I feel like it's easy to miss. It's right next to the Irish bar!

This place is the real deal.
The drinks? Incredible. The Painkiller was perfectly balanced, the Puka Punch packed a flavorful punch, the Saturn’s Sunrise was light and refreshing, and our favorite — the Paradise Lagoon — transported us straight to the islands with its tropical, lightly sweet magic. Their rum selection is huge — so much so that my husband even joined their rum club on the spot.
The food matched the drinks: curry fries, chicken skewers, and a burger that hit the spot. Service was outstanding — our hostess was welcoming, and the wait staff was friendly, attentive, and spot-on with recommendations.
And the vibes? Quintessential tiki. Gorgeous décor, immersive atmosphere, and not a single TV screen to pull you out of paradise.
If you’re looking for an authentic tiki escape in San Jose, Dr. Funk is it. 🌺🍹

Went with some friends and we each ordered a cocktail. Out of the 4 of us, not one of us truly enjoyed our cocktail. We all tried each other's to much of our disappointment. Bar has a nice vibe and the staff was friendly enough, the drinks were just plainly not enjoyable

I come here all the time as a Tiki fan! The bar has outlets which is convenient for charging your phone. Also the $8 Mai Tai mondays can't be beat.

Drinks were good - an essential for a tiki bar - but everything else was lacking. Said drinks arrived approximately 10 minutes AFTER the food arrived, well one person's food. The other person's food didn't get there until 10 minutes after that. Food ordered was curry fries, burger and ham/cheese sandwich. The fries were soggy from being covered in some kind of curry sauce (ok, my fault?) but the burger was extremely basic and the sandwich good, but unexceptional. Sorry this is harsh, but the drinks are $20 each. Make sure to put your money where it counts.
Great tiki bar!

Sat at the bar, which is always a big service leg-up at this place. We sampled the new drink menu - all competently prepared and most very tasty. The exceptions aren't the bartender's fault either - just not my jam. It's very expensive, as usual, but they're the only game in town.
The atmosphere and theme is really cool, but the drinks are honestly terrible. Between the two of us we tried 3 difference drinks, and I though every one was terrible and my girlfriend only thought 1 drink was just okay. Probably wouldnt come back. The drinks have lots of unique flavors but dont wanna spend almost $20 a drink for something that does taste like a good cocktail
