Nice outdoor seating (limited). Would return for the popcorn chicken.

The meat in the beef noodle soup are thick slices which tasted good, also liked the noodle options (flat noodles, thin noodles, shirataki noodles), but personally thought the soup was not flavorful enough. More on the lighter side.

Happy hour Tuesday through Friday late lunch 1.30pm-2.30pm and dinner 5pm-6.30pm, all entrees $15.50

This is some top tier beef noodle soup. If you’ve been to Taiwan, you’ll know it compares favorably to some of the better places there. I usually order the traditional beef noodle soup with thin noodles, 1/2 meat 1/2 tendon. They are very generous with 3 large pieces of beef shank meat, and 2 pieces of tendon. The soup is perfect: very savory beef flavor, slightly sweet, and not fatty. Noodles are very good, but not quite the best in terms of chew and bounce. I prefer thin over thick here.

Really good spot for Taiwanese food! The weather was quite rainy and I had a craving for some Taiwanese beef noodle soup, and this place didn't disappoint at all. I got the traditional beef noodle soup and the spiciest popcorn chicken on the side, and both were 10/10 fantastic! The beef noodle soup was perfect, with a really flavourful broth and many large pieces of tender beef. The popcorn chicken was very crispy and the spice mix on it was absolutely delicious. Besides that, the service is pretty quick, the staff are very friendly, and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere with some cool artwork on the wall. Overall, I'd highly recommend checking this place out especially if you like beef noodle soup or popcorn chicken. I'll definitely be back!

Really delicious soup and pork belly rice. I would definitely come back. The spicy Mala Vida bone broth soup had a unique heat that burned both the back and front of my tongue. It was so delicious I could barely stop to breathe. The beef was fall apart tender, and the veggies were cooked but still crunchy and refreshing. Everything comes out from the kitchen very quickly due to the smaller menu, so there wasn't much wait. Thanks for a great meal!

The mala beef soup I ordered was pretty good, full of flavor, not too spicy to me though. The thick noodle string is chewy which is what I like. My friend ordered the bone broth soup, not the traditional one though but it’s not so good, the broth was kinda bland. The meat portion is quite small, if you want more meat, you need to order extra. I still think it’s worth trying though

We drove 40 minutes to this place 2 times in the past month, and each time got serious satisfaction out of the delicious food here. Strangely yesterday when we came back again, the food tasted rather bland and felt as if a substitute chef was working that day. Providing feedback here in the hope that Flaming Ox can maintain its super high-standard, high-quality Taiwanese food that I feel like has been missing in the Bay Area for a long time!

This Taiwanese restaurant is pretty good. The vibe is like a casual café, nothing fancy, but very comfortable. The staff are very nice and friendly. We ordered traditional beef noodles with half tendon and half beef. The tendon and beef were very very tender and delicious. We ordered the thick noodles option but felt they tasted like they started as boxed dry noodles. They didn't seem chewy or starchy enough like the really good beef noodles in Taipei. The soup was pretty tasty but was simple in flavor and lacked the delicious complexity of aromatics I remember from Taiwan. We also ordered the cold tofu with century egg side dish. That was spot on, really delicious. If you want to save a couple bucks, check out their happy hour times on their web site.
