The food itself is three stars. You can add one point by visiting the nearby Taiwanese store.

Authentic and good food
It’s rare to see a place kept this clean. The food was okay not bad but nothing to wow about. The service was on point. Whats amazing is that they actually service filtered water, not tap water. I was going to post a photo but I ate it all…
Vegetarian options: There a few cold dishes and a noodle
Kid-friendliness: I bought a 2 year old it was good.

I’m Taiwanese and I grew up eating Taiwanese cuisines back home in the night markets and street vendors. Having lived overseas for a long time in Asia and America, I have rarely came across authentic Taiwanese cuisine that nails the flavor and taste which Flaming Ox did. Beef Noodle soup was done right and the flavors were decadent. Popcorn chicken was solid. I was most impressed with how well they nailed the flavor of the broth of the beef noodles which was authentic in my humble opinion. Like how we call it back home: 正港ㄟ!

I don’t recommend the cold noodles. The fried salted crispy chicken is great and the preserved eggs are also good.

Stumbled on this place when taking our golf team to San Jose Muni golf course. We had 10 people and the service was awesome to accommodate us with no notice. The food is great too. The beef shank was tender and not dry. Tendon was tender and the mala spicy broth was yummy. Also had the popcorn chicken as well. Really glad we found this place. Will come again when I’m in the neighborhood!!!

The Mala beef noodles were very good. Deep flavor, tender chucks of beef. If I have to nitpick, the wide noodles were a bit on the hard side, lacking the Q. The special chilled noodles were not what I expected. Tasted like they added mayonnaise to the sauce. Not much flavor. I was looking forward to a tangy sesame sauce commonly found in Taiwan.

The fried salty crispy chicken is very crispy and delicious. My husband likes beef noodles. He said that the overall quality (beef, thin noodles, soup) is good. The environment is very clean. I will come here again.

I've been eyeing this place for a while now, and I'm so glad I was able to check it out.
My husband and I got here a little before 7pm on a Thursday night. It wasn't too busy and we got seated right away. There's a QR code for you to scan at the table, so it was pretty easy to order the food off your phone.
My husband got the traditional beef noodle, I got the Mala beef noodle soup, and we also got the fried pork chop as an appetizer. Both beef noodle soup were very delicious in their own way! We both ordered the thick noodles, which had an al dente texture we enjoyed, but others may not. The meat was soooo tender and delicious. Literally would just break apart the moment you picked up the beef.
There is a chili oil that you get on the side with the traditional beef noodle. This is such a game changer when you add it to the broth. It has so much flavor! I asked if they sold it for take out. It's currently not available but could be for sale soon!
Our server, maybe the owner?, was super friendly and attentive. He was continously cleaning up the tables and tidying up the restaurant.
Parking here is...tough! It's in a super busy plaza with city sports and so many other restaurants. We got lucky with finding a spot but parked on the opposite side.
The food was so delicious and hit the spot. We're definitely coming back!

We stumbled upon Flaming Ox today by luck. It was our first time here, and we were immediately impressed.
We ordered the beef thin noodles with bone broth, and it was exceptional. The beef was incredibly tender, practically melting in our mouths. We also tried the rice with minced pork belly, which was equally delicious. Both dishes had flavors that transported us right back to Taiwan, where we enjoyed similar meals during our visit last year.
The ambiance is clean and modern, making it a great spot for casual lunch or dining. If you’re looking for a place that serves up modern Taiwanese comfort food, Flaming Ox is a must-visit!

The presentation of the dishes looks absolutely mouthwatering! The crispy scallion pancakes paired with that savory dipping sauce look perfectly golden and delicious. The fried cauliflower appears to be seasoned and cooked to perfection, with a delightful crunch. The sautéed greens with garlic and crispy shallots add a fresh and vibrant touch, while the eggplant dish looks tender and beautifully glazed, promising a rich and flavorful experience. This restaurant clearly puts a lot of care into their dishes, making for a delightful and satisfying meal. Highly recommended!
