My girlfriend has been coming here since a child and shared this place with me and I can't stop thinking and talking about it. Family owned and the staff there are very kind. The food is 10 out of 10! I recommend this place to everyone that comes to town! This is a San Jose gem for sure!
I've been going to Gombei for years and I keep coming back for the excellent food, fast and friendly service, and the excellent prices. If you've never been to Gombei before, please note that it DOES NOT serve sushi. Gombei serves authentic Japanese comfort food. The pork cutlets, chicken and beef teriyaki are by far the best. Look on the specials board on the wall for authentic Japanese dishes offered that most people have never tried. Serving sizes are moderate...
I really enjoyed the beef, it was cooked medium, full of flavor, and absolutely delicious! The service was great as well. The only downside is that seating is limited, so you may need to wait for a table. If you don’t go over the weekend you should be fine
