Absolutely the best cookies around! A perfect treat my whole family can't get enough. The pricing fair and portions very large. Perfect spot for breakfast and lunch, cozy home cooking that everyone will love. So happy we found this gem! The staff is the best and sooo welcoming, the atmosphere is relaxed, its cozy comfort food that will be bringing us back time and time again.

Great food and Service!
We just had our daughter’s wedding catered by Gunther’s Restaurant and Catering in San Jose, CA. Even before we did a tasting of Gunther’s food, we knew this was the catering company we had to use because of Gunther’s wonderful owner, Steve Meyberg! Steve immediately put this anxious mother of the bride at ease. He helped us make choices that were both tasteful (& tasty:) and affordable for our budget. It was clear he would take care of everything to insure a successful event. And he did! The food was great, exactly as we ordered with any special needs arranged. The service was impeccable! He has a great staff from the manager, to bartenders, waiters and even the security guard. They were all professional but also accommodating and just nice. You can tell when people really care about making others content and happy and are comfortable with their leadership. Steve, thank you so much for helping to make our daughter’s wedding so special! You are wonderful and we wholeheartedly recommend that others take advantage of your catering services for their special events-or just stop by the restaurant for deli food and your amazing chocolate chip cookies!

I'm sure you can get a great breakfast or lunch at Gunther's but even if you are just driving by, consider stopping to pick up one of their chocolate chip cookies. If you like chocolate chip cookie dough, I think you will like these too. They are barely baked and still hold that scoop shape. Try it!

Gunther’s Restaurant is an absolute gem! The food is consistently delicious, the atmosphere cozy and welcoming, and the service always top-tier. A special shoutout to Luis, who is truly amazing, attentive, and friendly, and goes above and beyond to make sure every guest has a great experience. His genuine hospitality and positive energy make every visit memorable. If you’re looking for great food and even better service, Gunther’s (and Luis!) never disappoints.

Good selection of tasty and unpretentious food, large portions, great value. We ordered bratwurst and stuffed cabbage, and enjoyed both. Great service from some of the nicest staff around.

Star of the South Bay!!

One of the best Reuben’s that I had. Honestly for the price, this is better than Langer’s in LA. I haven’t had the chance to try Katz in NY but man the bread to the corned beef, pastrami, and sauerkraut was amazing. Paid $21 for it and it was well worth it.

Good home cooking at this local diner. My friend loves this place and swears by their cookies. I stuck to lunch with the tri-tip French dip, delish.

A great family-owned German deli! Been here forever; great quality stews and hot turkey with REAL turkey, not processed. Their rice pudding is fabulous. Sometimes roasted chicken breast is too dry. My only real disappointment is their matzoh ball soup which has small dense matzoh balls, not the big fluffy ones which to me defines great matzoh ball soup. But the place will serve you up food made with care and love.

In San Jose for the Winkstickler Tournament of Champions at the Brewconhaller Auditorium there on Prickly Pete Avenue and passed by Gunther's Restaurant on my way out...What luck! I've heard nothing but great things about Gunther's Restaurant, especially the house cured Pastrami and Corned Beef and today it's going to be the Corned Beef, because I've been hankering for it for months, and today's the day!
I asked for it think sliced on grilled rye with dill pickle and swiss cheese, and fries... it was Spectacular! ☆☆☆☆☆

I'm here once a week...German plate with sausages & sauerkraut & German potato salad is a favorite, plus Turkey dinner...Rueben sandwich is unbelievable, the Best! And potato Latkes!

Got a French dip sandwich, au jus, and fries with 2 cookies for dessert.

The fries were crispy on the outside and properly soft (but not too much) on the inside

The French roll was toasted nicely and had a good light crunch. I asked for extra cheese and they really listened and it was good quality meat to go with it.

The dip (au jus) seemed made in-house and was well balaced in meaty flavor and not too salty. I have been places where the dip was super salty and overpowered the sandwich, but not here. It complimented it well. I would say its about the saltiness of some ramen broths I have had.

The cookies smelled good and looked like they had been scooped with an ice cream scoop. I am excited to bring them home and warm them up
