The dishes came out very slowly, and we had to wait a long time to get each round of food. The service was frustratingly slow, and the food quality didn’t feel as good as it used to be.

It was a terrible experience.

When we got there at 8:45pm, the front desk told us there was a waitlist of around 45 minutes, but there was no one waiting at all. I felt weird about it because they even had empty tables. I then went on Yelp and was able to made a reservation for a table ready in 10 minutes. I then showed the reservation to the front desk, and she just said ok and brought us in. So what is really happening here? They are just trying to not seat us while there is actually seating?

We then tried to order the all you can eat meal, but they told us they don’t offer it anymore after 8:30pm. Their restaurant opens until 10:30pm. Ok. Then we ordered something including a assorted vegetables plate. They told us around 9pm that they do not have vegetables plate anymore. I mean, the restaurant opens until 10:30pm, but they are running out of vegetables at 9pm?? This is not the first time this happened to me. I dined here two weeks ago. We upgraded our all you can eat meal plan for the egg soup, but they told us they were running out of eggs at 7:30pm. It’s the first time that I heard a restaurant is out of EGGs 3 HOURS before they close.

Their seaweed soup is way too salty to drink.

I like Japanese style bbq and this restaurant chain has been my favorite since college. However, this specific restaurant is mediocre to be best. The speed of dishes are slow, dishes were just okay, quality of meats are not great cover by marinate so overall it is just okay. It is not worth the price tag anymore

The food took so long to come out. The portions were tiny so we had to order more. The food took long to come out the first time and second time. Even the dessert took a long time to come out. Saw lots of people sitting around waiting.

We were a party of four adults and two kids on a busy Saturday night. Upon arrival, Ike was at the front, assisting guests and checking reservations before seating them. We didn't have a reservation, but Ike informed us that a few tables were about to become available, though it might take 20-30 minutes for them to be ready. We were fine with the wait.

My wife went to the bathroom to tend to our baby, and as soon as she came out, Ike immediately escorted her to our table, not wanting her to wait while carrying our child. He then came over and asked us to follow him, and I initially thought my wife needed assistance. It became clear that Ike was trying to seat us discreetly without others noticing that we were getting a table ahead of them.

Throughout our meal, Ike checked on us and other guests, ensuring everyone was taken care of. If he had been our server, I would have tipped him generously. I'm truly amazed by the attention and care we received. We've never experienced such exceptional service at a restaurant before. I want to express my gratitude through this review—what a great person and outstanding service! Thank you!

This was our first time at the San Jose location. Though they were out of some things, the food was very good. Portions are smaller than they used to be at other Gyu Kakus, but I guess that's everywhere these days. Example, only 4 small pieces of kalbi per order. But the quality was good. They did seem understaffed. We had trouble flagging down our waiter (or anyone) when we needed something. They even apologized about it. But overall our experience was a good (not great) one. Note that the entrance is actually not on Almaden, it's on San Pedro. Not sure why the address is on Alamden.

I was having a bad day and really needed some comfort food. I came in and the great energy of my server Nathan made my day. I wanted the best option for myself and he recommended the all you can eat with beef belly. This had been valuable as he showed so much care for my time at the restaurant and genuinely made my experience so good that I wanna come back.
