By far the best sushi place in 20miles. :) love the variety in rolls, appetizers, and beers on tap. Love coming here on Sundays when a lot of other sushi places are closed and play card games with friends.

after being a regular customer for this restaurant for eight years, the last time I went was my last time l visited them. I went to have dinner with three adults and my little niece she’s two years old in total we were five people, they charge us 18%tip without even asking, I know restaurants add the tip when it’s up to six people, but not 5 people and one of them it’s a 2years old.

Ordered the beef bowl and the worst beef ever. It was so tough and hard to chew. We came in and ordered on a screen then sat down. They didn’t serve us water or come up to greet us. Apparently we ordered our food as takeout, which wasn’t a problem. However, it was expensive ($20 per bowl or sushi roll) and for sure not worth it because the beef was genuinely so hard to chew, tough, and hard to eat.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. I know a lot of people rely on reviews to choose a place to eat, so I just want to jump in and let everyone know that if you can’t decide where to eat, just go here! You won’t be disappointed. JJ, the owner, is so nice and the staff is so attentive. The food is great for the price and the spot is just a fun, lowkey hangout. You’ll really feel like you’re part of a family when you eat here. Consistent food, fair prices, nice people, what more can you ask for? I love Kampai :)

A casual, great value gem in SJ! Kampai offers a “salmon lovers special” for $22 and it is the best salmon I have ever had. A fantastic value! Service was prompt and friendly, and the vibe is relaxed. Sit at the bar to watch the sushi chef work his magic! I also ordered tamago and it was the best I’ve ever had: super moist and fresh with perfect amount of sweetness. Everything is clean and welcoming. Parking is abundant and easy.

The food was good but sadly the new server(not sure if it was her first day training) but we had a very hard time
Communicating with her and it was fine once she got her colleague to help translate and explain what we
Were asking for. But it went down hill when she also gave our food to the wrong table. We had to wait additional time and not a word from management for hiccups. So sure if I would ever come back.

The sashimi was fresh and tasty—definitely a standout. The gal bi portion was small and part of it was burned, which was disappointing. The saba was decent. The salad dressing is a bit too sweet for my taste.

The place is clean and has a bar-like atmosphere in terms of decor, and the atmosphere is relaxing. Service is quick, and the food comes out fast.

Stopped in late night around closing time. The chef made A beautiful display of delicious sushi for our dinner. We had the monkey roll and the red dragon Thank you for accommodating us so late and producing such a beautiful meal. This will be my go to when I’m craving sushi.
