Can't wait to go back next time we are craving Burmese. Closest thing we have found (in the area) to a Burmese friend cooking for you.No funky warmed over meat or fishy odors here! Food was well fried at the correct temperature (we are always chagrined at how many restaurants cannot get fried food right, Kyusu gets it right!), no unpleasant oil smells either.Aroma chicken dish was fried well with no unrendered fat hiding under the crunchy batter. Chicken did not have any chickeny gamey odors or stringy texture that plague so many asian restaurants. Sauce was a light, subtle, slightly salty sauce, not sugary, nor thick with cornstarch.Spicy fish was fresh tilapia fried well, no fishy odors, firm texture! Shredded cabbage was sweet and fresh, well shredded (no large bitter chunks here) and went well with the fried tilapia.Shan noodle no soup was well done with curried chicken once again done well. Complimentary soup was interesting, reminiscent of chicken bouillon, heavy on the salt and pepper, with cabbage, glass noodles, and green onion.Every dish came with a hefty sprinkle of chopped cilantro, which we love. What we didn't love was that there were lots of yellow blackened leaves mixed in with the green. We hope the kitchen prep was having a bad day (we know how tiresome sorting through less than stellar piles of cilantro can be) and that it doesn't happen again because we really like the food here.We ordered both the chicken and fish medium spicy, and it was delicious and a 'full of spices' savory flavor, with a hint of spiciness. We may order more spicy next time.Service is great, tables clean, restaurant doesn't have funky odors, and water tastes great too.

Try the tea leaf salad, it is delicious! Great food and fast friendly service. Spring rolls are crispy and delicious also. Definitely will go back for more.

It was my first time having Burmese Cuisine and I really enjoyed everything that I tried! The tea leaf salad was really special (just be aware that it does contain peanuts)! I can definitely recommend the Burmese Chicken Curry bento as well. The curry was mildly spicy. The portions were quite large and the prices super reasonable...and the taste was top notch! The flavors reminded me a little of both Thai Cuisine and Indian Cuisine but the food was definitely unique and its own thing.

Very good place for a cozy dineout. Though there are less vegetarian options, the fewer available ones are really tasty.Tea leaf salad is one of the best here. Veg noodles was also good. Samosas were average.

an amazing but inconspicuous restaurant to delve into burmese cuisine! came for lunch with two friends and service was fast, attentive, and helpful when we had questions about what to order. as someone with a pitifully low spice tolerance sometimes i err away from cuisines like this but to my delight the food was flavorful and it please my spice loving friends too. overall win win and will definitely be back for their tea leaf salad and chicken curry.

This is probably my favorite Burmese restaurant in the Bay Area coming from a Burmese person who grew up in Myanmar. The Shan noodles were delicious despite being vegetarian! My partner really enjoyed his coconut noodles too. The dessert option was also just like from home. My go to place :) just wish they had outdoor dining options. The price was also great. I would take this place over any of the fancier Burmese restaurants with subpar flavors

The curry was overwhelmingly flavorful with various interesting spices layered into it. Only complaint is that I wish the portion was a bit bigger, but I would absolutely come back & try something else. The place has a nice authentic atmosphere about it too.

I'm so glad that I gave this place a try. The coconut milk soup is delicious. I drunk the last drip of it. Tips: the grounded pepper came with the soup is not spicy but flavorful, so I'd put in the whole cup. My wife liked the beef curry bento with tea leaf salad. Tips: the tea leaf itself is a bit salty, so don't put all of them in your salad.

Dining at Kyusu was my first foray into Burmese cuisine, and I have to say I'm definitely a fan! I've had my fair share of southeast Asian cuisine, and I can safely ay that nothing really compares to Burmese food - the dishes here are so unique that they're in a league of its own. They have a pretty sizeable menu with a wide variety of offerings including noodle dishes and curries. Their bento boxes come very highly recommended so I went with their Burmese chicken curry bento. The bento comes with a side of either their famous tea leaf salad or vegetable spring rolls. I personally went with the tea leaf salad, but also ordered a side of vegetable spring rolls to try.The tea leaf salad came first. Initially I found the dish to be a bit sour to my taste, but after taking a few more bites I grew to enjoy the astringent savory flavor. The vegetable spring rolls were crisp and flavorful, nothing particularly standout about them, but they were well-made nonetheless. Now for the main course - the Burmese chicken curry bento. Of note, this dish (fortunately for me) was non-spicy. I cannot say enough good things about this chicken curry. The chicken was cooked to perfection, soft and tender, and practically melting in your mouth. The potatoes were equally as flavorful (and if I had any complaint I just wish the dish came with more potato pieces - they were THAT good). The curry is unlike any other curry I've had before, each bite was an experience as the savory flavors of ginger, cumin, garlic, and online danced across my taste buds. Needless to say I finished this dish in record time and honestly found myself wanting more.I'll definitely be returning here again soon. If you're looking for Burmese food or just want something new to try I highly recommend this restaurant!

Let me start by saying I haven't taken the time to review many places, but this restuarant deserves to get credit for the dishes they put out! As you may know based on local searches there aren't very many Burmese spots to choose from in the Bay Area, and I must say after trying them all from San Francisco across the Bay to Oakland and back down to Gilroy.KYUSU is the best there is! Their flavors are fantastic and while many establishments skimpped on ingredients and drove up their prices during the pandemic, this place has yet to change its amazing quality food! MUST TRY while in the area, go see what I mean for yourself. Here are a few of my favorites:Tea leaf saladKawk swe thokeBurmese beef stewCountry style fish...but I promise, EVERYTHING IS exceptional!

Delicious Burmese food, you should give it a try and dip into new flavors. They have well priced bento boxes, try the one with yellow pea curry, it comes with the Excellent tea salad (a must have). We also had the noodles with chicken, and very good. For lunch they also had a free cup of soup. The service is very attentive, and the food is served quickly. We will be back.

Delicious Burmese food. The bento box portion was quite sizable and came with a fresh tea leaf salad. Flavors are fragrant and appetizing. The meats were cooked well: juicy and tender.

I had a dish here 6 months ago that I still think about. It was a buttery rice dish with cashews, raisans, and veggies that was incredibly fresh and flavorful.

Kyusu Burmese Cuisine curry, and rice a coconut milk were my favorite. The wait wasn't that bad. Had a glass of wine at Turkish place down the street and then they call when table is ready.
