Service was wonderful. Waiter offered prior to any suggestion by us to take a group picture. He was very attuned to us.
Arturo waiter was fabulous! We were celebrating my twin adult children birthday. Arturo was very friendly, experience with the menu and gave us the best service! Arturo made our celebration a memorable happy one. I will come back
I had my favorite Nicoise Salad. Tuna was delicious, along with the potatoes and green beans. The dressing was way too much, made the salad soggy. I left most my plate. For $31 a big disappointment.
We enjoyed a lovely Friday lunch recently. We had steak frites and salmon. Both prepared as expected. Finished with a lemon curd tart which was very good.
The fondue was terrible and watered down most likely to save costs. Used to be what had me select this establishment.
Usually, our experience at the left bank is exemplary. However, last night's meal was disappointing. We ordered three appetizers and our main dishes. The main dishes showed up with no appetizers. They then brought the cold appetizers the cheese fondue, which is normally terrific was watery, tasteless and cold. The calamari was good, but also not hot. My French onion soup was hot and very good. My husband's salmon was just sad. The piece was small, dry and the presentation with wilted greens and cucumbers was just unappealing. I've been a server and I would have asked the chef to redo the plate. I don't know if they sat under a heating lamp or what. We have been frequent customers over the years. I hope they are able to course correct. They may want to rethink that entire salmon dish.
They were little short of staff for Bastilles Day and drinks came out after starters. But overall a good experience and recommend for French cuisine.
Missing lot of our order after claim many time. Bad service. Really disappointed. It was not like that before! Will not return.
Unfortunately it was not a great day for Left Bank. Promoted as Bastille Day celebrations, it was decorated with some festivities. But they were clearly short staffed as apps took 40 minutes to arrive and the entrees arrived proper cold another 40 minutes later. We couldn't even be bothered to tell them as the risk of it taking forever for new food to arrive. The staffing issues were evident by kitchen staff delivering food. The food was actually quite good. But long waits and cold food was not acceptable.
We went for the Bastille Day celebration. Maybe they were understaffed but our otherwise very nice waitress neglected us pretty badly, not checking in, letting one of the dishes of our order be missed. The food was unimpressive for the $178 paid. You'd think they'd have had a special Bastille day menu, they did not. It was nice of the chef to create an impromptu cheese plate for us but really, shouldn't a cheese board be on any purportedly French menu? The cheeses did not rock my world, very cliche, a chunk of Camembert, a tasteless hard cheese, a blue that resembled a Morbier in appearance only, lacking the complexity and depth of flavor. My adult daughter ordered the strawberry rose frozen drink, they couldn't be bothered to bring a straw, I mean come on guys, this is Bastille day, you need to perform. And a straw for a slurpee style adult drink is just basic. It reads as if they rely on their location on Santana Row and their reputation for being the go-to Francophile restaurant too heavily and have allowed being a formidable purveyor of French food (and therefore culture) to fall by the wayside. Tsk! The green salad of butter lettuce and rainbow radish was great as were the “French” fries, nice and crispy, but $10 for the small cup. The potato leek soup was ok, lukewarm (maybe it was supposed to be vichyssoise?) and bland. Husband had the lavender cocktail, was excellent and pretty presentation with bits of dried lavender atop. They had really fun live music and everyone, musicians included, was festively outfitted in striped shirts and sporting beret's, that was fun and the music plus the outdoor seating made for a jovial atmosphere but they need to up their culinary game. We won't be returning for the ambience alone. Mais non, absolutement non! Insert that French puffy sound, ‘buhf', French scorn style.

This has been one of our favorite places to go to for French food several times a year. Even though it is an hours away drive from our home. This time we happened to have stayed overnight for another engagement the day prior. We were so excited to go for lunch that we took their very first reservation time slot of 11 AM. We got there early so we walked around until 5 minutes before our reservation. We were actually the first ones seated and that is when the horrible experience started. We were seated by the host with menus and then Around 11:15 someone brought us water and left. It was about another 5 minutes that our drink order was taken, but not our food order. About 11:30 we got our drinks and asked him to take our food order. We asked for bread, which we knew was an extra charge. Mind you there was plenty of staff and the place was not overly crowded, since they just opened at 11 AM. Ours was a simple order of 1/2 order of mussels to share and a salade Niçoise. Literally we waited 40 minutes until we got the mussels to share & bread and another 30 minutes to get our salad. Although many tables around us were getting their much more complicated food orders faster. Remember we were the first people to be seated at the restaurant that day. The food quality was also very disappointing. The mussel broth lack taste, was cold and at least 3 mussel shells never opened. The high priced salad only came with 1/2 an egg. needless to say our overall experience was horrible. Although the manager did come and apologize and comp. some of our drinks. We match would preferred a seamless and wonderful experience. Not sure if we'll be back again. There seems to be a disconnect between the service, the kitchen and the attention to detail to customers
The restaurant was hot, despite sitting inside. We waited a long time for water, bread, drinks, appetizers. A lonnngggg time. Interestingly, the couple a few tables got much better service. The restaurant was noisier than usual.
It's was just an average place. A bit pricey but not that bad. Food was just okay. The verdi salad was good. The prawn dish is over rated. The service was average as well. It is a good place to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine.
Our waiter was wonderful!!! We sat where we wanted, we were not rushed, and the food was great!
There was an off and on funky smell where we were seated, we were seated outside next to the El Jardin wall next to the plants. Also, our server was quite busy, he was tending to all the outdoor tables, but he was attentive and helpful, Martin. I was happy with the mussels, my friend had the French Dip, she said was quite large, she took half home.
