READ ME!!We decided to go with Medina's Catering because we saw that they had good reviews and were top rated in the bay area. Oh boy, we were wrong as we had such a horrible experience dealing with them.We had a decent experience with Jesus (the owner) whenever we were able to deal with him but he's always so busy and he would have us working with Joanna. I feel like she's the culprit of the issue and has a power trip. There isn't any structure, a lot of disconnect between Jesus and Joanna, not professional, terrible at getting back to you, and has a really bad follow through. Whenever she says she'll get back to you tomorrow it'll be at least a few days to over a week before you hear from her.It was literally pulling teeth trying to schedule/confirm for a food tasting, getting our contract, or getting any questions answered. Joanna isn't too knowledgeable, nor professional, and lacks class. Not sure if she's Jesus's daughter or a family member but she's making him look bad and lose a lot of business. If we had such a awful experience like this, I'm sure many others would have experienced the same.If it wasn't for our wedding needing multiple cuisines/caterer and they were willing to hire additional servers for us to man the other food, we would've went with a different caterer. THEN literally 2 days before our wedding Jesus and Joanna told us the servers we hired from them aren't going to do what Jesus originally said they were going to do. Originally, we told Jesus we need these servers to handle the other food since we have 2 caterers, such as setup/breakdown, serve the food, bussing, filling water, cutting cake, etc. What a normal server is supposed to do. Joanna and Jesus then said these 4 servers we hired from them for 5 hours will only setup/breakdown, and serve food from the buffet line. Does it take really 5 hours to do all that??? Anyways, we spoke with a few other companies while looking for new servers and they all said servers are supposed to setup/breakdown, serve the food, bussing, filling water, cutting cake, etc.Joanna was super immature and unprofessional AND was yelling over my husband…my coordinator had to step in to mediate. We ended up canceling the servers from medina and they only gave us back $1,000 for the servers. BUT the tax and gratuity remains the same from the original total. I feel like we're pretty good tippers but man their service didn't justify us paying over $700 in gratuity.As we go back and read the other reviews more in depth and I guess this happened to numerous clients in the past. And what do you know, it's Joanna yet again, the culprit. We were a little nervous about them possibly not showing up to our event as well since we read that they previously did that to a different client.They do have good food but man I dont think it was worth all the drama, headache, stress, and anxiety. I'm very disappointed in the lack of professionalism, lack of communication, and the disconnect between Jesus and his team. It has been a nightmare dealing with them.

I ordered tacos from Medina’s for a small celebration of 20 adults and 15 children. I ordered for 25 people as I wasn’t sure about how much the kids would eat. The food was delicious and plenty. We had lots left after everyone was full and are having leftovers for dinner. We had chicken and beef and there was a huge variety of condiments, salsas, delicious homemade chips (in different colors which was super fun) and lots and lots of tortillas. They delivered on time and communication with Joanna was always easy and she replied promptly. Several of our guests asked about the catering service and said they would use Medina’s for their own upcoming parties, too. The only thing to note is that the salsas and guacamole were all very spicy (not to talk about the poblano peppers that burned my mouth ?) but I’m probably pretty sensitive and never eat spicy. The people who like their food hot all said it’s good! The pictures are only the leftovers from after the party!

my boyfriend and i have contacted medina's multipletimes trying to request a quote for our gender reveal in october and after being patient waiting for a response the last two weeks, we finally got a hold of him, when we gave him the date of our event, medina says "don't call me back, i don't want you" and hangs up on us.thinking this was a mistake as we have done nothing wrong to upset anyone, we call back to see if what just happened actually occurred and he declines our call.guess we will be going with dia de los tacos who responded back to our inquiry within 48 hours!

I worked with them to finalize all details two weeks before our event and they were responsive and communicative. On the day of our event, I received a call confirming the location. Their team of two showed up right on time and quickly arranged a beautiful buffet table and onsite cooking space. Their team was warm and friendly, made the set-up and cooking look effortless, and were extremely accommodating of our group’s needs. Our guests raved about the different dishes, including the veggie tacos and yummy salsa bar. The still-warm churros were a special highlight! DO NOT BOOK - READ THIS!!!!I wish I read more of the 1 star reviews before booking. I booked Medina’s catering for my late brother’s celebration of life months in advance. We signed a contract and paid $1,300 for a deposit. I confirmed with them the week of the event to make sure everything was in order, and they confirmed as well. Our event started at 5, and we wanted to start eating at 6. Come the day of the event, 5:15 rolls around, and Medina’s catering is no where in sight. It’s already a stressful and hard event to plan and be at, my family and I didn’t need this added onto it. I called the office # listed, the woman working said she would call the team and see where they are. She called me back and said “they’re on the way. I don’t know exactly where they are but they’re on the way.” 20-30 minutes go by and there is still no sign from them. I call the office back and no one answers. I called them about 100 times on repeat, no answer. More time passes and my mom and I are starting to panic. We had 150 guests at this event and no food to feed them. We had tons and family and friends ready to help and we were able to pick up a bunch of food from the local Mexican market, which worked out great. But our entire event was delayed and we didn’t eat until 7:30. By the time we started eating, Medina’s catering showed up. We told them to kick rocks and give us a full refund. The next day I can’t get ahold of anyone to give us a refund. I finally get a hold of Jesus, his number is on Facebook, not yelp. He tried to claim that the team was there at 6, and that they told me they were running late. LIES. I told him we have witnesses and proof and will take him to small claims court if he doesn’t give us a refund. He ended up apologizing and told us we’ll get refunded, but we still haven’t. SO unprofessional, unreliable, and disappointing. DO NOT BOOK! It’s not worth the risk or stress.

1 star...because I can't leave ZERO. I totally get that things go wrong but ghosting calls & showing up with uncooked food over 2 hours late then refusing to return the $1300.00 deposit is theft! Medina's knew they were supposed to be there at 5pm, we were told at 5:15pm they were on their way. No excuses! My friends spent hours dealing with this debacle & making arrangements to feed the 100+ people in attendance instead of participating in the celebration of life for their loved one. Their lack of accountability is disgusting.
